    Mac virus!

This is the part where I laugh at people who buy Macs "because they're more secure, and they don't need to get AV software like those stupid PC users"

Yeah, I just felt like sharing this, because I have an extreme dislike for those assholes that claim Apple software is soooo secure, when the real truth is that it had so little marketshare nobody cared. I guess I just have issues with Mac users, most Mac users that I've met are stuck up, self-righteous $#@%#$%#$%$#s.

Good. I'm glad I got this out of my system.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA it requires you to install the software!

I don't care what operating system your on, if you have a dip sh*t at the keyboard installing software from porn sites then your system isn't secure!!

But when they have stuff that can be auto installed without the user knowing or doing anything, I'll be worried for the mac!

It didn't sound like they intentionally install it, just manage to download it. I don't know the specifics; however, the point is that Mac users shouldn't be cocky sons of #@$%@# about security on their system...

If you download it on a mac then you would most likely have to install it as well.. Unlikely to be able to do much damage unless your a real nob and don't know what your doing at all.

Either way, clutching at straws it would seem.

I agree about the cocky apple users however you get that on linux and windows as well..

it doesn't help their case that a lot of the mac users i've met really have no idea what they're doing, and only got a mac 'cause their friend said they have no spam or viruses and stuff'

and in effect they are right.
It doesn't suffer from viruses, yes many viruses have been written but are they really viruses when you have to install them? when you have to allow them access to your computer, to allow them to run?

and true, many mac users aren't that intelligent about computers however there are even more on windows and sometimes even worse!

Zacrifice it seems to me you are disagreeing just for the sake of disagreeing. It appears to me that the virus was hidden and therefore downloaded without any action on the users part.
Apple on Thursday confirmed reports of pornography Web sites where hidden software, once downloaded, could take control of an Apple computer. Apple did not immediately respond to claims that it is the first instance of a Trojan horse attack on Apple's Macintosh platform.

I have a Mac as well a a PC (which do use a hell of a lot more - i only use the Mac for quick stuff)

I will admit that i only have AV installed on it though as its protected behind a secure firewall - i would still never use a PC for internet unless it had some form of protection on it.

Right, you shouldn't use -any- computer for internet without at least -some- basic protection. (The best protection on PC is to not use IE )

no, not disagreeing for no reason.
I disagree because its tiring people constantly jumping up and down when a virus is released on a mac like its some big thing and suddenly the mac is no better then a PC or its worse because its suddenly got a virus.

This isn't the first virus for a mac and it wont be the last, yes its going to get worse, however its going to be difficult for anyone writing one for a mac then for windows.

If this software can download and install in secret and go about its job then I'll applaud the person/s who wrote it because they have now shown where the vulnerability is which can be fixed.

Windows is swamped with viruses, so much so that Microsoft can't patch all the security flaws they take advantage of.. well, at least doesn't not can't.

I tire of them same thing for linux people are always after that, then there are the linux and mac users who go after windows..

They all have there places none are better then another they all have there strengths and weaknesses, windows can be just as secure as mac/linux/unix, but I'm going off topic.
