    He's Watching

Anyone ever notice that allmsgs is always online. Spambot, check the link in the profile . What's interesting here is that it's using the who is online listing. In fact quite smart because the main forum page has a pretty good PR which of course is getting passed onto the profile page and therefore some is trickling down to the spam link.

Haven't noticed this on other forums but possibly because the who is online list is usually pretty big.

Edit: Hmmm, just checked, No cached page on the profile. Must be denied in robots.txt .

Edit 2: I see now, they have no folllow on the links in whos onlne.

I would tend to think it's is a redirect to an Adult Web Page because the link has a sexual related comment in it. I'd check the PHP code they are using on that link.

We have banned quite a few spam bots and general spammers from the forums. We even get the occasional host who advertises their services on a hosting client forum - HELLO!!!

Any user who spams the forum will get a a infraction unless they have multi posted spam or have made only one spam post in which case they are automatically banned.

Any user who has seen spam being posted or know any users which are spam bots, please notify a moderator by pressing the 'report' button.

Please don't do it unless a some time, perhaps a day has passed -- every moderator gets an email for reported posts and I think it is really unnecessary since someone almost always sees the spam and deletes it anyway...
    Good luck

I admin a few forums vbullitin, PHPBB and SMF and others.

I find the SMF does not get the spam bots at all, the Vbullitin and PHPBB get a constant flow.

SMF is the best forum software you can get, its open source and solid as a rock.

If you have a out of the box install its spam heaven, the success rate on the image captcha for phpbb2 is like 98%. All but useless, I don't even use it.

I haven't had single spammer in a year since installing a question mod. That's down from about 2 or 3 day. Bots can't answer questions... Keep it simple but unique, don't ask them what's 2+4.

phpbb3 has new image captcha that's adjustable, you turn it up to unreadable if you want....
