    PayPal Scam

Hey Guys... I just got an email from Paypal that looked both legit and like a scam.. So I checked into it... The email headers revealed that the email actually came from Service@PayPai.com and now paypal.com...

Here is a copy of the email I received:

When you click on the link in the email, it takes you to a poorly designed paypal site imitation at paypai.com! Firefox popped up with a warning regarding phishing...

    Don't Fall for this SCAM!

If the automobile had followed the same development cycle as the computer, a Rolls-Royce today would cost $100, get a million miles to the gallon, and explode once every few weeks.

There was a new trick I just heard of recently, they were doubling up on the anchor tags, something like this but i don't know if it was exact:

    <a href="bogussite.com"><a href="paypal.com">Click Here</a></a>

If you moused over it paypal.com would pop up in the bar down below, but if you clicked it you'd go to the bogus site.

I never EVER go to a financial-type site by clicking on a link. I ALWAYS type in the address myself (double and triple checking the url) or use one of my own long-established bookmarks.

I urge others to do the same.
    Good luck

Good practice Ron, I use links out of my Password storing program (Access Manager) to go to any sensitive sites.

i love playing around with the scam website - lots of crazy stuff.

You can usually tell if its a fraudulent email by the spelling and grammar, if its crappy and some words are misspelt then you can be sure its a scam.

Any paypal email that starts with "Dear PayPal Customer," is scam. That's the first thing you should check.

Yeah, I agree. The best way to always hit the right site is by bookmarks or by typing the URL yourself.
