    Flashing Screen

Ok, about 1-2 months ago I upgrades all of the hardware on my 2 Home PC's Both of them got effectively the same items, This weekend I decided to upgrade both to Vista Ultimate,

After the Upgrade the screen on my Desktop started acting funny, First when UAC would ask permission the screen would go "scrambled" or insome cases it would go to the brlue screen of death, I restarted to safe mode and downloaded the lastest drivers for my 8600GT card, This helped but did not solve the problem, So I disabled UAC, it would still stop responding and sometime through a stop error

So I thought the Card maybe bad, so I took the card out and used the Built in DVI on my Mother Board (m2a-VM) This works ALOT better however now at random intervals the screen just goes black for a second

On my HTPC I use the on board Graphics (only the VGA Side) and I dont have any Problems,

They both have the same MB, and the same drivers for Video, One has a Problem one does not?????

Vista is no worse than XP or any other windows distribution out there.

Actually in some way vista is infact much better than XP,

Now that the pointless Vista Bashing is out of the way maybe someone can come up with some intelligent thoughts?

    As an update

I have turned off Aero, that seems to help but it did not eliminate the problem, the Geforce card is unusable, as it shuts down and refuses come back up, the ATI based on board graphics still flash but less often now...

Ancient, that is not true. Vista is trouble for many systems. My daughters new system with Vista on it is a nightmare. Give me XP over Vista anyday!

She had all kinds of trouble with video, seems to have gone away with installing drivers from Nvidia and not MS's drivers.

Greg, Del this thread, it is appearant it will only be a vista bashing thread so there is no point

Sounds to me like his power supply may be overtaxed. I wonder if he tried to see if there was a constant signal.

Now that the pointless helping of the_ancient is out of the way, can we get back to bashing Vista?
    Good luck

Listen thin skinned one - was not bashing Vista, stating a fact. I am a Microsoft Partner and know a little about Vista, I do not like what I know - yet! Been to a few seminars on it and watched even the demo computer have ills!

Seems to me Vista may have the life of ME. Microsoft even extended XP six months for oem's.

Have xp running flawlessly on 14 computers here at the office and home. I know what a nightmare is on a computer and my daughter's Vista install is a nightmare right now. Perpetual auto updates crashing in failure is not a picnic pal.

I did give a suggestion on your drivers. Missed that is your rage aye?

Now take a chill pill and settle down - new years is almost here and "paint the sky time!"

That means shoot fireworks off for us in non legal states - it is one of the unofficial legal times that we take advantage of. Have some Black Momba's just dying to be launched!

Vin that bucket of water near you? Use it!

ohhhh a Microsoft Partner, let me bow at your feet

I dont think so, this Vista vs XP debate is the same one that happened with a XP vs 2000
Most OEM;s are running Vista, Try finding a new XP based PC from any of the major vendors?

Xp has had how many years to stabilze?

Might want to READ my original post, focus on the part where I stated that I have in fact downloaded the latest drivers from both vendors..

new Years is just another reminder that I have to deal with Stupid people for one more year

Move to state where they support Freedom and the American way of life and maybe that will not be a issue

Old ancient one.... oh boy, I am not arguing Vista over XP just telling you what I have experienced. I have worked on plenty of Vista installed PC's and simply reserve the right to keep using XP.

If calling me stupid makes you feel better - just help yourself!

Sorry I missed in your original post that you are using the most recent drivers.

I have experienced in the past that the most current drivers sometimes was a problem with certain units. I had to scale back drivers a couple times to get video on a certain PC to work correctly. Perhaps that is something you could look into.

One other thing, did you completely remove the old drivers before installing new, that can cause problems sometimes.
