    Unhappy Not pleased so far

I'm only starting out with JPC and so far, not so good. Got a Windows VPS setup over the weekend without too much hassle. Their techs are really quick with the tickets and being in IT myself I can understand sometimes you get swamped. No gripes here.

Originally I chatted with a sales rep asking about mssql support. He told me they did offer mssql but i would need the plesk power pack to manage it. no problem there. Everything setup and then I find out that only MSDE is provided which agitates me because I wasnt told this. Having had problems with msde in the past I figured I would use mysql. Fortunately for me, my app uses NHibernate so I can use any db I want. Again, a little agitating but I can work around that.

    Herein lies the kicker,

Wanting to free up as much memory as possible I ask for them to remove the power pack as I no longer need it for managing mssql. I was then told for them to remove it from my monthly bill would cost a $10 fee. I can understand this from a liscensing standpoint, but come on...a $10 fee? The reason i originally got the power pack was misleading from sales for managing mssql (or what i thought was a full standard edition).

I'm only in my first week with you guys and am already having second thoughts and am now being told i need to pay a fee to not use something? this does not sit well with me.

I came to jpc because i was told you guys were the best. So far there is much to be desired from a couple of different angles. Does the 30 day money back guarantee apply to the VPS servers. I wouldnt imagine so.

That was your first mistake, windows is for desktops, not servers

MSSQL sucks anyway mysql is far better

    thanks for your comments.

I certainly dont think that vps is a stepping stone for ded. I am using a specific config with c#/monorail/nhibernate and wanted to make sure that i had full control over my config without going to a full blown dedicated setup.

Yeah, I learned that the hard way.

Dedicated isn't *that* much more than a VPS, and is well worth the money IMO....
