So I'm preemptively starting this thread to talk about the ridiculous power outage that just occured to all our servers from what I can only guess is piss poor power management from our datacenter.

I trust SOMEONE is going to get a boot up the backside over this Greg?
my main concern was the lack of info on the issue, it was an hour plus before http://backup.jaguarpc.com/ had any info posted on it
TBH all I want is my sites back (they are on Lead which is still down)
I was on Draco with all the aggro that had, then Fangorn when that went down now on lead....someone doesn't like me at the moment![]()
Yup - that was quite the shock this morning when all sites were down. I was figuring that it was bigger than my server. I couldn't figure out how to report the problem so just sat back and had another nap - hey don't laugh - we had a dumb bird trapped inside our ductwork all night and it sounded like it was a woodpecker - needless to say there was very little sleep!
Sure enough after being patient for a couple of hours , my sites were up and running again. For a while all my sites were up but I still couldn't see JagPC main site or forums.
What I just learned from the Network Update is about the backup site. Sorry I missed the earlier memo. Now I have it bookmarked!![]()
Ethix, most likely from what I gather is due to the lack of info. I assume the dc had just one or two late night techs on shift like normal that scattered like rats when the issue happened, ignoring all tickets, phones, etc so our techs got nothing. This is why their first post on the blog is about it being a network issue, which is just a side effect of the power problem.
They were making a best guess to tell everyone, something, and that we too of course see that ..oh wait, the whole network is out.![]()
If our own techs cant access our server then they are either taking it as a forced lunch break (j/k) or theres a serious problem. They said all they could under the circumstances.

All i know is i pressed refresh about 5 and a half hours ago and haven't seen my site since. I know this is not Jag's fault and I will not be holding you to blame nor moving for that matter. Thankyou for the updates on backup.jaguarpc.com
However is pegasus.nodirect.com on any of the lists?
Thanks for trying to keep us updated!

It was (give or take) 80 minutes from black-out at Atlanta to first post on the back-up blog, which to me is fair because it will take the techs some time to ascertain exactly what (and how much) has gone AWOL, raise alarms with all the people who need to know, and get their disaster plan running. I would much rather they did that than flap around on a blog.
You only had to do a tracert from wherever you are to your IP at Atlanta to know that they had a big issue. The 2 routers on the outer edge were playing data ping-pong with each other trying to get stuff routed in ....
Full marks to Greg for starting this thread before the almost inevitable trolls start blitzing the forums with nonsense about what might have happened and, judging by the tone of Greg's language in here and on the back-up blog, I guess there'll be a few of his boot imprints on the data-center manager's door before the day's out.Code:13 16 ms 16 ms 16 ms atl-core-g-g1-6.gnax.net [63.247.69.178] 14 16 ms 16 ms 16 ms atl-core-a-g3-1.gnax.net [63.247.69.177] 15 17 ms 16 ms 16 ms atl-core-g-g1-6.gnax.net [63.247.69.178] 16 16 ms 16 ms 16 ms atl-core-a-g3-1.gnax.net [63.247.69.177] 17 16 ms 16 ms 16 ms atl-core-g-g1-6.gnax.net [63.247.69.178] 18 17 ms 18 ms 18 ms atl-core-a-g3-1.gnax.net [63.247.69.177]
Go for it Greg and let us know if you need any big ugly heavies to back you up!![]()

My 2 servers are now up but one of them has a cpanel and WHM panel with an Unactivated License File and the websites can't be accessed. Should I notify support or is it something that will be corrected?
