    The grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence

    Last week I saw an ad about some unbelievable cheap dedicated servers. After visiting their UK site browsing through their offer and FAQ, I still did have some unanswered questions. Curious as I was, I wrote them an email. I am not going to tell their name, but let us just call them 2plus2

    Below is an extract of the emails between me and 2plus2's support and billing staff:

    Me: Looking through your server package listing I noticed the text
    Me: "All Prices shown exclude VAT".
    Me: As a non-EU citizen (I live in Norway) does the VAT apply to me?

    support@2plus2: Thank you for contacting us.
    support@2plus2: To assist you better with this concern, please contact our billing
    support@2plus2: department immediately as technical support does not have the
    support@2plus2: necessary information with billing issues.

    So I (not they!?!) had to forward the question to the billing department.

    billing@2plus2: Thank you for your email
    billing@2plus2: Please re-send the e-mail below with your customer number or
    billing@2plus2: domain name attached as we are unable to access your account
    billing@2plus2: with out them.


    Me: I am not a customer of 2plus2, but your answer will be helpful when
    Me: considering becoming one.

    billing@2plus2: I am sorry to inform you that our system provides services for UK
    billing@2plus2: residents with a Valid UK address and UK registered Credit
    billing@2plus2: card - and if you have recently moved outside UK we strongly
    billing@2plus2: recommend that you transfer your account away to another
    billing@2plus2: provider and cancel your account with 2plus2(UK) or if you live in
    billing@2plus2: one of the following countries you will be able to transfer to one of
    billing@2plus2: our other branches in these counties:
    billing@2plus2: Germany - www.*****.de
    billing@2plus2: France - www.*****.fr
    billing@2plus2: US - www.*****.com

    Conclusion: The reason why 2plus2 is able to provide services at such low rates, is that their support and billing staff consist of some badly programmed bots, which are as service minded as an average Vogon bureaucrat.

    When my site outgrows my current plan here at JPC, I don't think I'll look far for a dedicated server

    We have some low cost dedicated servers we can get you setup on a Bargin Bin Server just get with sales regarding it.
