Unhappy How Do I Fix This Issue? :-(

    Hello again

Can someone please help me with this dilemma?

I've noticed that lots of my icons on my system (computer) are turning to "realplayer" icons LOL
specially my PHP's files.. why is this? Even when I download (formmail.php) it downloads as
    "realplayer" icon but in php.format?

Although I have no problems opening such kinky files (php) with my text editor, the "realplayer" icon will just not go away and my formmails won't work and don't know if is because of this or what.

Can someone tell me how to fix this so that all my php files go back to their original icons so when I download another php file it will stay with its appropriate icon and NOT "realplayer".

Thanks to my favorite bunch here

    Ms L.

It probably has to do with realplayer associating lots of file types with itself.

You can open your windows explorer and look under tools, folder options, file types to see what program is associated with .php files (probably realplayer). You can simply delete the association there (for .php and others you don't want it for) and things will return to a standard look.

Problem: as soon as realplayer starts (you starting it, or perhaps it starting along with your system), it probably changes it all back to the way it likes things. So, first look around among the realplayer options for something that stops it from associating all kinds of files with it on start up. (I find realplayer such an aggressive annoiance that I don't allow it on my system, so I can't tell you where to look exactly).

On windows xp and older systems you can download PowerTools' TweakUI. Within the TweakUI panel, there's a "rebuild icon cache".

You may want to check your file associates to make sure *.php and others aren't pointed to Realplayer

That's pretty cool, I didn't know MS was now in control of that.

I have TweakUI as a standard part of my winxp sp2 install disk. Use it all the time. Nice tool.
