    Needing a list server

I am looking to create a list server type function. Real low volume. I want to be able to add people to a list of valid emails. Then I want to be able to send mail to that list. I want everyone on the list to be able to send an email back to the list and have it automatically go to everyone. It wouild be very nice also if the actual email addresses were not included in the emails. Additionally, people should be given an unsubscribe link for self opt-out.

I had thought that mailman would be the right product but I can't seem to find out how to enable it on my CP. I think that phplist wouldn't do the job since it seems to be one-way.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Robert

I think I've found the mailman config options and it looks quite good. I think I'm good to go.

MS exchange is a more complex way of doing this but it has some awesome features. Let me know how mailman works out for you as I've been looking for the simplest way to set up a distribution list.

I've been playing around with the mailman functionality. Once I figured out that you get to it from the CP as a mailing list and can then set a BUNCH of properties for each list, I found it was really robust and is working well for my purposes. If you want to try it, go to your CP, then under the section for mail, look for 'Mailing Lists'. Create a list. Then, it will show up in the list of lists. Choose Modify and you will get lots of options to control the list.

Mailman is a great tool...I've been using it for years. I'm not crazy about its web interface and there are a number of improvements to it I'd like to see made (if I knew Python I might make them myself ), but overall Mailman is very powerful.

Right now I am looking at using the command line tools that mailman offers to sync my mailing lists to a member database that I am building on one of my sites (on an Interworx VPS--unfortunately, with a default cPanel install, site owners can't access the command line tools). If I can get that working it will solve my biggest problem with Mailman: keeping track of who owns each email address in the list. Right now our lists need to be manually compared to our membership roster periodically. My hope is to have the list updated automatically whenever a change is made to this new database.
