    Ukliam2 Thoughts on some upgrades

What would you guys and gals think

    4 x 250gb Sata 2 32mb cache

    4 x 74 gb WD Raptors Sata1 16mb cache

    In raid 5

I was going to go with Raid 10 but its a tad expensive.

On a side note new egg has an opteron 1218 for $99 with no rebate

    Oops!

I think I see a bug in the new theme...

That truncated link actually tried going to the truncated URL!

    Um...

As for my thoughts on SATA drives - I think I'd rather run SCSI and forget the RAID.

    Thanks, Nick...

I have a brand new CoolerMaster CM-690 in the box, sitting in the garage, next to my sewer router and lawnmower.

I was perfectly happy to let it sit there forever, until I revisited this thread. Argh!!!

    Now you got me thinking...

I've always wanted to build a Tera-bit server for backups over the LAN - plus, our Slackware web server is giving us fits!

    I have the ideal case...

And, a spare Tuniq Tower 120 in the closet...

    The chip you mentioned...

    Here's a Tyan Tomcat h1000S RAID 10 mobo...

All I would need are some SATA II drives!

    Hrm...
