Running a PCI-X GPU and onboard video at the same time?

I am looking at finally upgrading my motherboard from an outdated socket 939 one I have. I have a good video card (8800GTS) and power supply as well as a sound card. I am looking at a mother board with an HDMI port on it so I can hook up my big screen; however, does anyone know if I would be able to run my dual monitors off my 8800GTS and then the TV off the HDMI port for a total of 3 monitors? I'm guessing I would have to run 2 sets of different video drivers so I dont know if that would cause some kind of conflict or if this is supported.

It's probably advisable to buy a board with on board video of the same brand as your video card. 8800GTS is nVidia, right? I've combined on board video with a seperate video card twice in recent years, both using Windows XP. Worked fine. I know the video cards were nVidia based and the motherboards both from MSI. I can't recall what on board video chipsets, but probably both nVidia. At least I did not run two completely seperate sets of drivers.

Thanks for the confirmation. The 8800GTS is an nvidia so it looks like I will have to go the intel route, I can't find any good amd mother boards with an nvidia chipset, I would guess that's because AMD now owns ati.

New Egg has 43 different MB with Nvidia Chipsets, none of them are "good"

//FYI that only have 28 with ATI chipsets

Youre right, looks like I should have done a better job searching:

I'm set on AMD since their Quad cores are cheaper than Intel's so this baord might be a decent choice since I don't want to spend more than a $100 on it and want an HDMI port.

I am Set on AMD because IMO they are far far more stable

I am not decided if/when i will upgrade to a quad, my Duals are more than enough right now...

If I ever move from vista to linux on my HTPC I might do a Quad since at that point I will be doing more Encodeing than I am now.. but......

My main issue with AMD has always been the heat those processors produce. This might be addressed in the newer models so it might not be an issue any more.

I'm still on a single core 3700+ so instead of jumping to dual might as well go straight for the quad. Also looked around and I think this will be the better option:

I wanted to stick away from Asus since I had a bad experiance with this last board I got (interference on the PCI bus and they told me it was my problem, not theirs). But at least it is a brand that has some history.

    hmm

I run all ASUS, never had a problem that was not solved with a firmware upgrade....

When I first set this PC up with Vista the Monitor would Intermittently Fail on my 8600GT card, reflashed the BIOS and the problem was solved..

I did do a firmware upgrade when I first got it and it didn't work. But it might actually be a good idea to see if they released another one since I haven't checked in a while.
