Question Cloud Computing - Anyone doing OpenGoo here ???

I ran across an interesting app last night called OpenGoo.

This app would be in the cloud computing class, and the official web site is here.

Looks interesting and I was thinking about installing it here today, if I get bored...

The thing is, while I like the concept, I don't know if I would ever use it. I'm the kinda guy that carries everything around in his head - or on a piece of scrap paper in his back pocket.

The unique thing about OpenGoo is, you can store all your data in a sql db on Jag servers, instead of using Google servers. The bad thing is, your docs are stored in HTML format.

    Hrm...

Anyway... is anyone doing OpenGoo here - or something like it?

    Just curious...

I used it about a year ago briefly and it was super buggy. However, I just logged into the demo and it has come a LONG way. Granted I used it when it was pre 1.0, but still this is a huge leap forward.

It was a fork of php-collab aka activecollab.

Sorry I don't have better info.

Looks interesting. I wish it had the sharepoint features of being able to save to a workspace directly from microsoft office. But I might have to install this and play around with it, the email tab and the tasks tab look pretty damn cool.

Ya, thanks for reminding me about this. I'm in need of a project management application and this will be perfect. It has come such a long way from when I tested it around version .2 or so.

I spent the afternoon testing it out, and it's great. By far the best free project management software out there in my opinion. Great UI and a ton of features. Not perfect, but real solid.

    ~Cool

    And, thank you!

I think I'll give it a whirl too...

With some more testing, I found a pretty big flaw with how it handles file uploads.

There is a topic in their forums here where others also have ran into it.

Basically open_basedir restriction prevents you from uploading files. I tried editing the defined value in init.php, but with no luck. I had to disable open_basedir restriction for the directory where opengoo resides to get it to work.

Not a huge deal since it's only one directory and I'll trust the users I give access to, but not a really good way to handle things.

    W00T!

This sounds right up my alley!

I messed around with open_basedir for weeks, hardening PHP-Nuke, and I loved it - made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside - unlike some code!

    I gotta try this proggie...

This looks like a nifty program, Reminds me of OpenOffices o3Spaces. I had installed o3spaces to check it out. Will have to install this sometime when I get a chance and see how it fares on my server
