    Bwahahaha! That's hilarious!

I spent 2.5 hours this morning, repairing my vintage Hewlett Packard DeskJet 722C printer.

These things are NOT made to come apart (easily) nor be refurbished by HP customers. You're supposed to 'send' them $233.95 to repair it, sooo... I can definitely relate to the article!

Thanks, Chief! I needed a good laugh...

Not even if it's good and sexy and JPC themed?
CAUTION: May not be workplace appropriate

I'm thinking of posting a few of our own darwin style support tickets (minus the names and specifics) maybe to our blog in monthly installments. Would that just mostly offend everyone or would most people see the humor for what it is?

    Hrm...

    Interest proposition, Chief!

I'm not sure what you mean by "darwin style support tickets".

If you're referring to Charles Darwin - while I'm NOT a big fan of "The Origin of The Species" - curiously subtitled "The Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life" - which often gets glossed over - I am a fanboui of Darwin's followup book, "The Descent of Man."

Since you used the term "darwin", perhaps he can shed some light on your determination!

Chapter V - On the Development of the Intellectual and Moral Faculties

We may therefore conclude that primeval man, at a very remote period, was influenced by the praise and blame of his fellows. It is obvious, that the members of the same tribe would approve of conduct which appeared to them to be for the general good, and would reprobate that which appeared evil. To do good unto others - to do unto others as ye would they should do unto you - is the foundation-stone of morality.

It is, therefore, hardly possible to exaggerate the importance during rude times of the love of praise and the dread of blame!
Personally (if you're asking my permission) I don't think it's a particularily good idea to make fun of "your tribe", least it leave the wrong impression with others, e.g. that you are NOT doing it for the greater good of JagPC, et al, but with evil intent.

    Still, it's tempting, I suppose...

It was more of a humorous passing thought, we'll keep the stupidity private like always. Most, 99% of clients are webmasters or pretty educated folk like everyone on these forums.... but every once in a while I'm amazed the person powered on a pc.

Those Who Know Just Enough To Be Dangerous

Here's another 'lol' for you, Chief...

    SOURCE

Electronics Store Sales Rep | Columbus, OH, USA

Me: “Hi Sir, how may I help you?”

Customer: “Uhh, yea, I need some CDs.”

Me: “Sure, we’ve got all kinds: CD-R, CD-RW and regular music CDs.”

Customer: “Umm, I just need CDs with lots of RAM.”

Me: “RAM? CDs don’t have RAM, computers do.”

Customer: “Oh…” *turns around and ambles out of the store*

(He then comes back a month later with a MacBook.)

Customer: “Uhh, yeah…I put Linux on it.”

Me: “That’s wonderful, you made a great choice.”

Customer: “But, like, I can’t use my Apple OSX anymore.”

Me: “Issues with Mac OSX? Okay, well. Lets take a look.”

(I turn the laptop on, and I see that he has installed Ubuntu, I go into the GRUB loader to basically boot OSX and I find that it is no longer there.)

Me: “Sir, did you reformat your hard drive in order to install Ubuntu?”

Customer: “Uhh, I don’t know, I just followed the directions.”

Me: “I’m sorry sir, it looks like you reformatted your hard drive, got rid of anything and everything you had on your MacBook and installed Ubuntu.”

Customer: “So, can you fix it?”

Me: “You got rid of everything, including any backups you may have had. I cannot get anything back.”

Customer: “But I can get my files back right? I only formatted my Apple, right?”

Me: “No, nothing can be done. You can either become a Linux user or if you have restore discs you can use those.”

Customer: “Oh, okay. I’ll talk to my brother, he can probably get all my stuff back…”
