    No. He's being a bit populist and trying to move further right in anticipation of the next Governor's election where a Centrist to moderate Right KB Hutchison has announced a run.

    Is it a real possibility? No, and Perry actually backed off a bit from the most extreme position. Technically, I think we still reserve the right to secede and break apart into five regions/states though some would assuredly argue the Civil War pretty much nullified such an option. The division into regions still holds, but actual leaving of the union? Nah.

    Of course, technically, any state could choose to leave the union and cause another civil war since the only thing holding a collection of people is an agreement to be bound to a bigger collective and the threat of arms if they opt out.

    Anyhoo, while I appreciate his recent movement right, it's still a pretty transparent act from a politician.
