    WOT??? Web of Trust

I don't run Windows, but for those that do, you might find this Fx add-on interesting:

    http://www.mywot.com/

The Web becomes more dangerous every day. Malware has become ubiquitous, scam sites proliferate, and there are constant privacy dangers. Children can easily stumble on sites that aren't suitable for them. What to do? Try WOT (Web of Trust), an excellent browser add-on that offers protection.
If you try it, let me know if my web site passes...

    ~Cool!

    I got a 70% Trustworthiness, so I can't complain...

    Thanks!

Maybe I'll install Windows in a VM tomorrow...

    EDIT: Doh!

On their web site, it says the add-on works with Linux.

I don't know where I got the idea that it only works with Windows...

I *think* I got that Mexican/Pig/Bird Flu - no kidding! One of the joys of living in Arizona!

Since the vast majority of people dumbly use whatever browser came with their shiny new pooter, have less than no interest or comprehension of security matters in general and online security matters in particular, and as "child safety" is such a hugely relative term (I wouldn't want my kids looking at stuff Frank deems acceptable for his and vice versa, eg), there's pretty much no way I'd want to trust the great unwashed's opinion on whether a given website is going to be good for my or my family's browsing experience or not.

Do people really trust the opinions of random bods on the internet?

"I like the idea that I'm getting advice from fellow web surfers.”
"The WOT extension is amazingly accurate and complete. "
"The real power in WOT isn't the tools, it is the users."
"WOT solves the problem 'Can I trust this website' in an elegant and user friendly way."
"We consider WOT to be one of the most remarkable initiatives to make the Web a safer place.”

    Oh dear.

Vin, I'd've thought you'd've been utterly appalled at the herd-stupidity of this project.

LoL! Why do I have to explain everything to you ppl?

Sometimes the best place to hide is in plain view!

I *think* you're the one that's slipping, my friend...

And, that's just an idle observation. Is that what YOU are looking for - social reinforcement?

BTW, I have Win2K running in a VM - now I'm trying to install openBSD. Win2K went well, but openBSD is being a PITA!

John, John, [...] that's not playing the game.

I *think* you're the one that's slipping, my friend...
Never said you had slipped, Vin, merely wondered which member of the Vin series had malfunctioned enough to decide that people are A Really Good Thing (tm).

And, that's just an idle observation.
Seemed more like conjecture to me.

Is that what YOU are looking for - social reinforcement?
    Yeah. Define me.

    I'm convinced of it now...

While fear of the swine flu has died down because health officials say the H1N1 virus appears to be producing the same symptoms as seasonal flu, the number of cases continues to rise in Arizona.

So far, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has reported 11,054 cases and 17 deaths in the United States.

Of those, 547 confirmed and probable cases and four deaths are in Arizona.
When they say "confirmed and probable cases", you can automatically multiple that x10 - thus at least 5470 actual cases and 40 deaths in Arizona...

It didn't kill me, but I got a severe case of bronchitus followed by a month of sh!tting-like-a-firehose.

All in all, it could have been worse...
