I really love the Aletia community forums. Truth be told, I will probably still read the messages because I have learned so much. I might still post and I promise, I'll be in a better mood than I was when I was hosted at Aletia.
My domain is now resolving with my new host (here at least). I was with them before Aletia and went with Aletia only for the cheaper plan. After being used to Puma's load averages above 10 ALL THE TIME, it is a blessing being on my new server.
Right now, on my new host, the load averages are the following:
0.13, 0.24, 0.29
Bliss.
To be on the safe side, I went to paysystems website to cancel reoccuring transactions. The url is here:
https://auth.paysystems.com/cardholder/default1.asp
To be clear, they ask for the first 6 and last 6 numbers of the credit card you used along with the amount to be charged. If you have 1 domain and don't know your order number, just log in here and it's presented to you.
I e-mailed sales, mark, laura and ron to be on the safe side and also submitted a ticket for documentation in case they come back. I'm hoping the cancellation process will be easy.
By the way, just a random factiod:
I signed up at 12:37 AM Eastern Time on Thursday, August 30th. My account was SET UP at 1:25 AM the same day. Less than one hour later. That was when their support was oh-so-good.
The new host I'm with has also been growing since I left them seven months ago. Perhaps not leaps and bounds like Aletia, but they've been growing. From what I understand, the company is a one-person operation and this one person couldn't do a better job at customer support.
Over one year ago when I signed up for my account with them, the account was setup within 15 minutes.
Over seven months after leaving them, my account was still setup within 15 minutes of ordering.
Not only that, but the admin spent over an hour with me yesterday to get Gallery up and running properly, including installing needed modules and reinstalling and DEBUGGING the Gallery program when nothing else worked. She did not give up until the problem was solved.
If you want to know who my new host is, either look at my site or leave me a PM. I don't want hundreds of people flocking over there. I don't want it to be another Aletia.
Good luck to you all. Thank you all.
And Ron - thanks for trying to keep the company afloat by attempting to let people know what's going on. In my opinion, people need to be kept informed. There's no reason to keep customers in the dark for 16 hours when you know good and well what the problem is. Even if you don't, acknowledge there's a problem that you're working on. 40 seconds to post on the boards isn't going to do any harm.
Everyone have a great weekend!!![]()
