    Problem Accessing My Site :)

[Eagle] is down again, if this happens again I will be contacting my lawyer. Either this problem gets fixed NOW or I as well as the many others on [Eagle] get some sort of compensation or I make a call to my lawyer, your choice.

By the way, posts can only be deleted by super-mods (aletia, dana etc) not the user-mods that can only close threads / edit posts.

That's good, it seems that we have finally gotten the attention of Aletia

Eagle is not down. If you continue to post incorrect information you will be banned from the forums.

    Dana,

While I am sure it was an issue with routing problems - Eagle is indeed up and running - I think you should be a little more lenient, as the amount of frustration due to repeated problems has reached high levels. I believe that the focus of Aletia should be to resolve the issues in a timely fashion, not to silence the voices of frustration. Personally, I don't care if you are in the US or Australia as long as I receive reliable service and decent support.

As for banning somebody from the forums, there are others around that have been asking for your head on a plate so to speak, so take a good look there. I do believe in constructive criticism and not just commenting for the sake of it. I think Aletia staff/employees/remote admins have done an excellent service over the past months but recently Aletia became a victim of its own success. It will take a bigger effort on your part now to restore the faith. Silencing voices of frustration won't help at all.

timechange I'm glad you understand that after a long history of not deleting a single post, we're starting to get a little annoyed at the way some people take advantage of this and create unnecessary problems here at the forums while we are spending time on more important ones.

As you can imagine, having people report that machines are down when they are not not only causes confusion but also projects the wrong impression of us to forum visitors. Deleting such posts does not equate to the silencing of frustration but rather the removal of incorrect accusations.

And yes we have already banned certain individuals who apparently started becoming notoriously ridiculous where posts were concerned. We will not tolerate people who do not appreciate the time and effort we always put in no matter the challenge.

Maybe it would be worthwhile to have a thread on Forum etiquete. I've been frustrated the past few days. But while browsing this forum it can add to the frustration to see a 2 or 3 word negative comment combined with text copied from previous postings, URL's and all sorts of word noise that make it difficult to get a point.

Then I realize there is not point, just expression of frustration. But, they will take Aletia resources, and an excesive amount of that needs to be avoided now. avoid

The Forums are wonderfully useful. Users need to use them constructively for other Forum users.

When I made that post I went to my site it was down, I also went to my ftp to login which I couldn't as well so I assumed [Eagle] was down, either way my site was down, and that is not good.
All I want is Aletia to get back on track and do it fast, I appreciate your guys' attempt at getting things going again but when everybody notices that we still have no problem receiving our bill that gets a little fruststrating for us as well.
One quick side not, banning customers from forums for speaking their mind about the company is a really and I do mean really bad business move
My site is up again so thanks for getting that working again at least

Eagle has been up for 8 days, so that wasn't the problem.

Not saying there wasn't another problem, but eagle being down wasn't it.

I think a lot of you guys are overreacting. And I'm not saying this because I'm a moderator. The only person I know of that's banned is Snakebite and his threads/posts were outrageous. Though the forum policy has not been clear and users had a lot of freedom, some users chose to violate the one that was clear - no profanity. And this was obvious in the fact that he and some others used different variations of the curse word or spaced it out or something, EVERY TIME.

Despite several warnings, some users did not heed. Therefore, they will receive reprimands as I stated before.

In terms of Aletia being like Hostrocket and not allowing customers to say "negative comments", this is not so. There are still threads out there of users who are "leaving" and they are saying negative things. But there are also positives in them too.

Just look at this forum, there are several angry user posts. But they are accurate, so they remain. And Tazz complains that his posts were removed. They were because he blatantly violated the multiple threads rule. Not only that, he was obviously "wrong" in saying his site was down.

I'm not saying that he couldn't access his site, but it sure wasn't down. If he posted: "Is my site down?" or "Why can't I access my site?" As opposed to "my site is down!", it'd be a different story.

Btw Taz, you're like what 17? I'm sure you have a lawyer just sitting around. Making threats and bluffs don't work necessarily. Especially not in your case.

Yes, his post in this thread seems to confirm that.

I sincerely hope that we'll see some guidelines for the forums if we risk being banned. (I certainly could qualify for a running-on-at-the-mouth ban. )

clio, first of all my username is Tazz NOT taz, second, my site was down last night, I do not know why it was and yes it was wrong of me to say that [Eagle] was down because it wasn't so sorry for assuming.
I am 17 yes, I do not have my very own personal lawyer but my family does therefore I have one It wasn't a bluff either, I do NOT like losing money and I will do something about it if this problem is not solved

all truthful? You're crazy. He was making posts about Aletia fleeing the country due to September 11th. Now that's absurd.

Of course you haven't seen any profanity today, they've all been banned. I guess there was more than 1 person banned. Besides, it's not like they're banning everyone who makes a negative comment. Only those who repeatedly violated forum rules did.

Yes, I am making the assumption. Look at the post he made. His family has an attorney. Great. I can tell you right now you'll probably lose and/or get nothing but lawyers fees. Why? Because in most states, there is a certain dollar amount before you can legally file civil suit. And it's certainly not $10. I've used lawyer threats before towards a hosting company, but we were dealing with several thousand dollars. No one is going to do anything to get $10. All you can do is report to the BBB.

...with the exception of course of a class action lawsuit

At any rate, I agree that there has been too much white noise in the forums due to the problems and whatnot and now it's time to look forward, not back.
