Today I requested aletia to install a Perl module in the server... They did it in minutes!

I'm very happy with the support too!

I've found support here is generally pretty good as well. But it helps to talk their language. It also helps to realize that sometimes they're concentrating on fixing things rather than answering a backlog of support tickets. That's probably how it should be, but it can leave users rather irritable in the interim.

It would be nice if Aletia would post more bulletins about scheduled and unscheduled maintenance however. They probably have some some legal, business, or ethical concerns about that though.

Aletia is definitely more upfront than most hosts I've seen. Not that often do you see forums like these, allowing users to complain as well as praise their services. That really takes guts and shows integrity. I'd be suspicious of any host that only posted positive comments. That just isn't reality in tech support, where you are often working with people who are frustrated and angry BEFORE they contact you. Some also experience problems beyond the control of the service provider, but the provider still may be blamed anyway.

I always take any opinions offered here with a grain of salt, both good and bad, and I'd advise anyone reading this stuff to do so as well. You never know who you're really talking to here, their background and experience level, and their motivation for writing.

    Gessshhh LOOKOUT

Aletia should DEFINATELY have you on payroll...

And on top of that you stand a good chance to make a small mint (fortune) writing Sales Copy / Content

My meek way of reiterating whats been said and felt by a lot of Aletia Customers..... "THEY SIMPLY ROCK!!!"

Oops! Didn't mean to sound quite so rah-rah. I think there's a few others here who do that routine pretty well.

Seriously though, it helps to have spent time in the tech support trenches.

For the money Aletia is definitely good! The only problem is the odd member(s) who turn into script-monkey(s) and hijack the server(s)' cpu(s) now and then. The only problem I ever had otherwise has actually been trying to get Aletia to take my money to upgrade an account to annual.

Actual tech support .... never had any delays there.

    Thanks jkeller!

I usually do more casual lurking than posting (except of late), but I'm sure you'll hear more from me in the future when I feel so inspired. These forums are really a great help. Thanks to all who contribute and make our little community a nicer place.

Hey, you didn't have to read it; the title of the thread says it all. And the fact that you then took the time out to reply is pretty pathetic.

It's not their support I'm having problems with ...

... well I am having some minor problems there, but nothing that can't be worked-out.

No, what bothers me is the incessant OUTTAGES on Scorpion.

Well, that and the fact they only have Perl 5.003 running.
