    Moving Machine Question

I haven't requested to be moved yet, but I probably will if Aletia doesn't clean up its act on Eagle.

    Anyway:

How does it go and how long does it take?

Is everything completely restored on the new machine?

Does the mySQL database get transferred too?

Do you keep the same IP or is it changed?

The actual move of one account should take no more than an hour. The only thing that changes is your IP. Everything else should be just as if you never moved, including all your databases, excluding of course your problems/downtimes.

Sorry, I read that as "including of course your problems/downtimes" and had a little chuckle. Well, bigger than little (but not too big -- must maintain proper decorum, of course).

Ok, I'm going to move. How should I go about asking? Should it be a support ticket or what?

I don't have experience moving accounts. I just guess that you must start opening a support ticket.

Just a note: Backup all your files and databases. There has been problems when Aletia moves the accounts, so please, for avoid problems, backup all your site, including Mysql Databases.

Yep, done that. I've backed up my databases in 3 ways: the automatic vBulletin backup saves .sql file to /admin and I downloaded that, the vBulletin system of downloading automatically, and the mysqldump.

Edit: Nm, I haven't done mysqldump yet. How exactly would you do that in SSH? I keep typing this:

    Code:
    mysqldump --opt -uSTARCRAF -p starcraf_forumsector > /home/starcraf/public_html/fs/admin/dump.sql
Then it asks to enter the password and I do, and I get this:

mysqldump: Got error: 1045: Access denied for user: 'STARCRAF@localhost' (Using password: YES) when trying to connect
