It doesn't look that nice, but it's technically up to date, it supports different windows in one browser - like Opera does and it's not such big part of the OS, such as MSIE!

    Try it, guys

I've been using various nightly and point builds since 0.9. Version 1 RC 1 is pretty nice. But, oddly enough, it is slower in page updates (dhtml) than a previous nightly build. I'm hoping it's just a hiccup.

As for "looking nice", it's got native support for skins. So that isn't much of a problem! (Though the way that they noticeably slow performance on a slower machine, is).

I assume you mean Mozilla and not NS 6 by that! NS 6 is better optimized for dhtml and other performance issues, but it's got AOL-ware up the kazoo. Blech.

Yeah, the skins are great. They've been improved since the release that NS 6.2 was based on to the point of being able to change without restarting the browser.

Plus, they're more than skins: they're actually a way to extend the html page with in-browser displays. Try a search of the Mozilla bug list (anything, really -- besides, it's complicated enough that you won't be able to figure out a good sample search anyway). The results pop up in the sidebar (toggled by the F9 key), and follow you around. Very smart and cool. Now, we all just need 2.4 GHz machines to smoothly run that puppy...

I haven't updated mine to the newest build so I still have a 0.9.9+ but I'll update this weekend. I love the 'tab' feature and it works better than in Opera (but I'm sure the people at Opera will make their next version even better .

Since IE was always crashing my computer, I've stopped using it altogether. I like Mozilla and Opera.

I've been using it for a while and I really love it. The mail client is also really great. I don't know what I would do without it now.

I was bored last night and decided to give it a try... I downloaded 1.0 RC1, and it's great!

The look and feel are really impressive. Although, i've seen some little bugs, but overall, it's great!

Yeah, I'm beginning to think that I'll actually be able to change my main browser to it. The first time in years! The last I could say the same, I was working mainly on second-generation PowerPC Macs, and IE/Mac was still in beta (it still is, in some ways ).

You mean you use IE as your main browser? That's what I meant, too. Ever since I moved off the Mac (when NS 4.x -was new), I've used IE as my main development platform.

I have no semi-polical/pseudo-religious issues with one rowser or another (e.g. people screaming for Bill Gates' head), but I'm tired of the micro-upgrades that constantly spill out to patch security problems. Plus, you can only install one version of it on your machine -- I know MS doesn't want me using other browsers, but why can't I use more than one version of its own? It'd actually help them since I could then easily test for compatibility. Very short-sighted on their part.

I settled on IE 5.01 a while back, and stayed. I'm glad I did, because the 5.5 codebase (which is the core of 6.x) has brought with it a bunch of new security problems. Mozilla doesn't have the penetration of IE, so it's an unfair comparison. But even if there's a lack of exploits just because of Mozilla's lack of market penetration, I'm more than happy to look into switching to it. Now if they could just clean up the dhtml rendering time...

Jkeller, I couldn't have expressed it any better.
I had minor problems with IE since a lot of time and I just got sick of it. I switched to Opera a while ago, since it has that cool tab feature and It's not as tightly connected as IE is. Mozilla is like a better Opera, without any ads

Unless you get the Netscape flavor.

Come to think of it, that's the great thing about the Mozilla philosophy (without getting into the license): The engine is widely available alone, and you can create what you want. "You" being a company or an individual -- which is great.

One of our clients is currently using the parsing engine server-side to be able to analyze pages and chains of actions (like a multipage form and its results). It's already pretty complicated if you stick to a single page and static html. But code from Mozilla also takes care of JavaScript and actions (triggered by external code instead of clicks). Nifty!
