    Hey Justin!

Did you have a look at Kevin's book over at SP? Apart from this I would say have a look at PHP and MySQL Web Development, but this is not really a book for beginners

I have php and mysql web development and have read through it and found it great. It's pretty clear, especially the php crash course at the beginning of the book.

I personally wouldn’t go with a book for beginners only because php isn’t really all that hard to learn and once you’ve read a beginners book which teaches you the basics what are you left with? You’ll probably want to do more advanced stuff and having a full book on it would help.

    Just my 2 cents.

i have the php4 bible and teach yourself php in 24 hours. they're good for little nitpicks here and there. best way to learn is to actually do it yourself.

i'd buy the sitepoint book, except it is on the pricy side, since I am broke now :bawl:

I believe the best book is Professional PHP by Wrox, even though if you really want to you can just start at Beginning PHP -- they're both good books. Professional in my opinion also starts from the beginning; they just move faster.

I learned using Professional PHP and Webmonkey.com (and phpbuilder.com here and there)
