This post is for the people that may wish to sign up, but don't know if Aletia Hosting can meet their standards.
I have been with Aletia for well over a year now, and I have not suffered from poor service as many may say. I actually love being here. The service is wonderful. When I had a problem, Aletia promptly helped me out.
For example this morning I sent in a support ticket to get a multi-hosted domain added, and within a few hours, my ticket was closed, and my multi-hosted domain was up and running.
People only see the bad things that happen, they don't see the wonderful things that out-weigh the bad.
As for downtime issues. Every host experiences downtime, they don't know when a server is going to malfunction. My previous hosts had a lot more downtime then Aletia does, and they are ran by TEAMS of highly skilled server technicians. To simplify this, every piece of hardware will fail in due time. Thats simply the nature of hardware. If it isn't the hardware, then it's the software. Aletia runs Linux based software on their servers. Linux is a wonderful OS, it hardly ever goes down unlike Microsoft software. But, every software is made by a human and people can always make mistakes. Even though Linux is very stable, it can still go down, but not as much as Microsoft's software.
In my opinion, the support team for Aletia is the best. You may see people crying and hollering or talking poorly about Aletia's Support Team, but you have to realize just how much support they have to provide to over a thousand customers. Your ticket may take time to be answered, because of other issues within Aletia. Aletia may be busy working on more serious problems and your request might be minor to the more serious ones. An example of this would be that a server could be going down, and Aletia may be busy trying to save everything from being destroyed.
Aletia does out-source their support to a third party company because of the amount of people Aletia has to serve and provide assistance to. I know of a lot of web hosting and ISPs that do the same thing. Shoot, if you check your ISP, they may even be doing this. Third party support teams are trained to handle your requests, they don't have to worry about other details and problems with the supported company, which in turn allows them to concentrate on helping you. No support team has all of the right answers, they try their best to help you though.
Everybody who has been with Aletia, knows that they use a third party billing company. The third party billing is responsible for charging you and withdrawing your monthly fee. It may seem bad to use this type of method, but it is actually good. I have never been double charged or over charged. There has been times where my budget was so low that I was unable to meet my payment when it was time to withdraw my monthly fee. They didn't close my account after I received the notice, they didn't even close my account after I received my second notice. The billing company gives you 5 days to get financially situated before they send out the next notice. If you still don't have the payment after the second notice is sent, they give you 5 more days. Once, you finally get your money straighten out, and they finally get the chance to withdraw it, they don't charge you for be late on your payment, they just charge you the price you are suppose to pay.
What is the best thing that I like about Aletia? I love the features that they offer: the space, bandwidth, email accounts, etc. Aletia offers a wide range of features with their hosting plans and all for a very low price. You may find other hosts out there that may offer everything that Aletia offers, but I can almost guarantee that you won't find them as cheap as you will on Aletia.
Ok, that is enough about my rambling. The decision is up to you, I cannot make you decide, you can only do that for yourself. The information above is my opinion and my opinion only, and I stick behind everything that was said. Everybody is entitled to their own opinions. I know that I may receive a lot of negative responses, and I know that I may receive a lot of positive responses, but that is your opinion.
The information stated above is what I have experienced since I have been with Aletia for over a year. My site has received millions of visitors in this past year, and it hasn't affected my experience with Aletia at all. The only thing that I can suggest is to give them a try, if you don't like it, cancel your account, but I really don't see a reason for you to cancel after you have explored all of the possibilities of Aletia. Good luck and I wish you the best on what ever your decision may be.
