[rant] Image Galleries

Arg, can I just say that setting up an image gallery is painful?

I know it has to do with my lack in coding knowledge, but still! All I want is to have a thumbnail with the image title and file size listed underneath and about 4 images in a row! Damn tables are giving me a headache. I can't wait until I know more advanced coding so I can stop with this table junk. arg.

So maybe my rant is more about tables. I thought I understood how they worked, but apparently not since I can't get them to do what I want!

Ok, sorry for the utter pointlessness of this post, but I needed to vent that somewhere. My roommate won't understand.

Sure, they'll be dynamicly generated, but they're still tables!

As with anything else it is always best to develope ones skills in coding, understand the processes involved before utilizing tools that can substantially speed up and simplify the task at hand.

If you are doing EXTENSIVE work with image galleries there are numerious programs available that can simplify the task and give you a wide range to customization abilities.

Not long ago I did an anime gallery for a friend which consisted of over 30 pages of thumbs, each page of thumbs consisting of 5 rows x 5 columns or 25 images per pg. I was able to choose the thumb size, the data I wanted displayed with the thumbs, img name, size, file size etc etc the pg background, thumb bg, border and install pg navigation with little effort. The entire project took a matter of hours instead of days and the majority of those hours was just playing with different appearances.

Thing is I can do this by hand if necessary, but the process for the most part is really just a repetitive task that I found I for one would rather automate.

Just remembered I still have a sample gallery of pictures I made using Thumbs+ on my site - Space photos bit over 200 of them - One of the first things I did using the program - whole thing took maybe 3 or 4 hours w/slide show - you can view it here:

Well Sir Shady I hope for YOUR sake that this is an attempt on your part to attract my attention and be amusing!

For HATE regardless of the language used to connotate that emotion is a terrible word defining an abhorrent emotion.

HATE Dear Shady will taint your soul - not particularly good for karma either.

Since I am 99.999999% positive that I have done nothing to evoke such an extreme emotion I'll assume you are using the word in jest and therefore I guess it appropriate to respond inkind?

Let me guess - either you have spent untold hours creating image galleries and the duck enlightened you as to how many of those were wasted on repetitive tasks best left to automation....
