I see all of the complaints, the gripes, the moaning and whining...but it makes no sense to me at all. The only problem I have ...

    I see all of the complaints, the gripes, the moaning and whining...but it makes no sense to me at all.

    The only problem I have EVER had here was several months ago with all the scorpion server troubles. Sure I whined a little...but let me tell you, I used my own head and solved the problem. I requested that my account be moved to another server...and it was within 24 hours. I have not, even once, had a single problem with Aletia since....nothing.

    Thank you guys. I have something stable and efficient, and have no problems at all. I have been around the block a time or two with some hosts. In fact, I still have my last host trying to collect money that I do NOT owe them...I'm still fighting these idiots. I have been VERY vocal, and I'm not afraid to become so if need be.

    Frankly, the need just isn't there here. Many of the complaints I see here, no offense, are because some people fail to actually research the answer to their question first, or they lack the appropriate knowledge to be working with a web host to begin with. For $10 a month, Aletia can't hold your hand every step of the way.

    I'm a technical writer and Instructional Designer...I just get so fed up with those who don't RTFM! And if you DO RTFM, and don't understand the information or terminology, you might need to ask yourself if you are truly ready to handle this.

    Also...if you have a problem with an account that's down...don't send your ticket from the e-mail address attached to that account, as the ticket probably won't go through.

    ANyway, I just wanted to add some positive feedback here...thanks guys, not everyone hates you.

    Maybe you need to re-RTFM.

    Seems like you have a clue what the griping is about here at Aletia... and are capable of doing the same thing you ridicule others for!

    ummmm where on there hosting adverts did you read about the limitation of support tickets you can open, or where they draw the line of how much support they give their customers?

    Ya meant positive feedback with negative connotations, right?

    *!! Now bare in mind... no offense was intended, I just saw most of your post as contradictory... that's all.

    Yea- it's wierd!...

    I'm in the same boat you are. Here for maybe 10 months and never a problem- aside from a couple days when eagle was down (I whined!). But other than that, good uptime, no problems, the very few support tickets I've put in have been handled very promptly and efficiently.

    Really- I couldn't ask for more- especially not for under 10 bucks.

    And I agree- some of the complaints I see, I just roll my eyes. It's like Aletia simply can't win with some folks.

    BUT- I also see some really legit concerns- especially with support tickets going unanswered. I mean, folks being completely ignored! Even if it's a stupid issue- send them a freaking e-mail reply to let them know they are being heard! Communication is NOT a strong point with Aletia!

    It's like some people are cursed- all of their support tickets go into a void. Others- happily me!- sail along smoothly with response times of minutes or hours (rather than days or months).

    It's wierd. I can't explain it. There are definitely some problems with the system, but they never seem to affect me. Life's unfair- but as long as that works out in my favor, I guess I won't complain!

    The difference is that some people, myself included, are on nice, stable servers and don't have problems. Unfortunately, others are on unstable severs and therefore have lots more problems.

    Some have problems, others don't.

    I don't think that's it!

    I think the problem is that some requests are horribly inefficent for us to process. A refund request, right now, is very difficult.

    If you recall, it used to be the #1 complaint on the boards that "my signup took xx days" or "still not online after xx weeks" or some such. We addressed this problem using our automatic signup script.

    Now we need to do the same with other areas, notably refunds, multi-hosted domains, and others.

    hey! Come to think of it, I have noticed less complaints about the set up time - this is good, becauseI might want to set up another acount or 2, and I was really leary about doing so. It would be really embarrassing to encourage someone over here because I'm pleased with the deal and service I get, and then not be able to get an account up and running:-)
