    Cancelling Accounts

What is the proper method? If there is one, it obviously isn't working. There's too many users here who are complaining that they are getting billed even though they're account has been cancelled.

You tell them not to do it via their credit card, that it will just create more hassle. But look at it from their point of view. Some try to be patient and they wait. Yet they're billed again and again.

Something has to be done. It's too ridiculous to have to go through all this hassle just for cancelling an account.

Not only that, changing Credit Card information is a hassle too. When I did it last Christmas it wasn't that bad, but I've heard some horror stories since then. I also noticed the signup page changed and you can't just signup again and tell setup that your account is already setup, you're just entering new info.

Is it paysystems.com? If it is, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! Get rid of them if you have to!

People aren't going to wait forever. They're already leaving because of the lack of presence. Now they can't even leave in one piece and have a peace of mind.

When I cancelled my hostrocket account, it took 2 seconds, literally. I don't understand why you guys can't do that.

Just some thoughts in my head.

not real simple if your old credit card was deactivated for any reason. I lost my wallet and I deactivated everything from credit cards to bank accounts. And to do that at pay systems you need to enter your CURRENT card. It'll say: Your card is not valid or something and won't even let you in to change it.

It's not that easy. And I'm not the only one who's had problems changing cards.

I requested my account be deleted 5 days before the regular billing period for the next month, and it wasn't cancelled before that, so I go billed for this next month, despite me not using the Aletia server anymore.

Here is what it says in the FAQ:

    http://manual.aletia.com/index.cgi?a...d=101092919 8

How do I cancel my account?

To cancel your account, send an email to sales@aletia.com, and include:

    1. The order number found in your email receipt;
    2. The name of the machine your account is on; and
    3. The primary account domain.
But after being hosted for oh so many months/years, who will really still have the order number from the e-mail recieved when you first signed up?

Cancelling your account is easy. Just log in to PaySystems.com and stop the recurring transaction. Boom, you're not getting billed anymore. I did that to cancel one of my accounts after sending in a ticket didn't get it done quickly enough.

really Tribby? now how come that isn't in the FAQ? we should put it there. heh.

Ben, I remember why my case was slightly different. I didn't know my old CC number so I couldn't log into PaySystems to change it. I don't memorize them or write them down, heh.

I'm pretty sure that Ron posted on these forums that the quickest way to cancel an account is to stop the billing from PaySystems.com... but yeah, that's what worked for me.
