    The new internet model

I have been reading a lot lately about this new internet model companys are thinking of bringing out about paying for the content.. subscription base.. now thats all well and good but that will create a rift of haves and have nots and I also think that why should i have to pay 20 bucks a month for something that wont give me lots of information i want and could potentually have advertising on them.

I think this is just wrong.. not because of the believe that the internet should be free (If it was should i really be paying for hosting?) but that i couldn't afford to simply sign up and pay everything to every website i like to visit for information.. i visit about 4 different news sites 3 different PHP/relation sites 13 different other sites for da hobbys i enjoy and many other miscalinous places that i wont go into great depths about Now lets say that these cost about (At minimum) 5 dollers US a month (all the sites are mostly in america) now kets at that up
    4 + 3 + 13 = 20
    5 x 20 = 100
convert that into australian Currancy and its
    170.94
at an echange rate of 0.5850
Now.. i have no idea how i would pay for this.. i mean my internet connection alone costs more then that.. Unless of course we are going to start getting REAL free internet connections.. then that will be a little better..

Could anyone else really afford this? i know lots of you would prolly go to more sites then me in a month and could you afford to do this? and sometimes its not a question of affording it.. the question really is.. Do you want to?

Anywho theres my rant .. aint done that in ages.. hahha

I kind of agree with you, but you have to realise that they have expenses themselves. They have to pay for hosting, for people to update/maintain the page, for people to write stories. Some websites don't have to pay for any of this, others have to pay for all three and more items.

I like what Salon ( www.salon.com ) is doing. They have regular content available to everyone and then ad-free, expanded content for people who can pay.

Hopefully, advertisers will find some way to succesfully advertise on sites so that web sites can be free, similar to US network tv.

I can understand that everyone has bills.. and i wouldn't mind paying either.. but they have do find a better way of doing it then the subscription model which doesn't work because it could potentially lock people into websites that they could find they wont like or enjoy or have the content there after..

They need something where you pay at one place and you can access all the sites you need..

I read "Internet model" and I hoped to see some pics of blonde ladies in small bikinis!
