vacation: MacWorld! back in a week

    Hi Guys,

I'm leaving tomorrow afternoon/evening for a vacation. I'm going to check out Yale in New Haven Tuesday and the rest of the week I'll be in New York at the MacWorld Expo with friends. According to Dogma, they're releasing a new PDA?

    Anyhow, bye for now.
    See you guys next week.

    Hail Apple,

That's just a rumor, one that has been spread before the past 50 MacWorlds.

It was soooooo much fun! New York is great, though I don't think I'd want to live there.

I went with my friend John, his parents, his cousin, and a friend of ours, who's a teacher

Me and this other person were the only PC users that went in the group and she jokingly calls it the Mac Lovefest. Hehe. And they had the longest line there and it was "the most polite line I've ever seen" hehe. The keynote presentation was great. It was funny though. STeve JObs introduced lots of new software and there was this new phone from Sony Ericsson which wasn't available in the US until that day from CIngular. And later on John and I hook up with Dennis who's living in New York for the summer and he pulls out THAT VERY PHONE! lucky dude! He got it in Hong Kong. It's a $600 phone though, ouch.

MacWorld was fun. It wasn't all Mac stuff though. Microsoft was there promoting Office and they gave away free easter eggs with putty LOL. We basically went around collecting free stuff and checking out the new stuff. OS X 10.2 KICKS ASS! I'm sooooooo getting a powerbook next year when I go to college.

The Javits center is cool. It's pretty big but the expo was not as large as some years. We had a users conference pass so we sat in on several lectures and stuff. The first one we went to on photoshop sucked, but the rest were good, esp. Best Of Mac Secrets. David Pogue is an awesome teacher. Really funny too.

We're just geeks, hehe. We decided on Thursday to go to the new Apple flagship store in Soho. We lined up outside at 7:45 AM for the 8:00 AM opening. It was definetely cool. It was like a huge party. The employees lined up and clapped as we entered. And they have this beautiful glass staircase in the center of the store. And we all marched up to the second floor dancing as the song "Love Shack" was playing. It was soooo cool. Apple.com has a photo gallery. I'm on this page. Not telling you which photo though LOL

Did I mention I checked out Yale on Tuesday? Yeah, my parents are mad at me now. I want to go to Yale and they don't want me to. Grrr. =/

I'd always wanted to go to an Expo back when they were in Boston. Andy Ihnatko made them sound fantastic.

I've been to one here in Paris, but last year's Expo was canceled after the 9/11 attacks. No real loss, because few new product announcements are made in the non-US Expos. But they're still cool to go to. This thread reminded me to register for this year's event (10-14 September).

"[F]ree easter eggs with putty"? That would be Silly Putty in its classic form. Man, your description makes me feel old.

Yale? And you're in a feeder school for Harvard? Turncoat!

Yes, they left Boston in 97 because the Javits is a bigger better newer convention center. They are almost done with the new convention center in Southie (South Boston). It should be completed by 2004 and Apple has already contemplated in bringing it back to Boston for 2005. That would be great, but I kinda liked having an excuse to go to New York. I don't think I could live there, but I love being there

Yeah, I know. But I'm also still stuck in this Spanish AP issue and I'll be meeting with my Headmaster soon and she's a Harvard Freak. She's obsessed with kids going to Harvard. And guess what strings I'm going to pull? And my dad is a Harvard freak too, so that might help. But as soon as I'm out of that class, I'm going where I please. But it's still a longshot for me to get out =/
