    Account Expiration?

    I forget how this works...

I signed up for an account with Aletia about a year ago. It was a one-year pay in advance account. Now I'm toying with the idea of getting another host, and I'm wondering...

is there any way i can find out when my account expires, or does it automagically renew unless i tell it not to?

It will just renew unless you cancel it beforehand.
You might wanna open a ticket at www.aletiahelpdesk.com and find out when it expires and then cancel it if you choose.

    Thanks!

I've shopped around a bit and havent found anyone that offers what Aletia offers for the same low price. So I think I'm gonna stick it out. If things go bad, I can always cancel later

As long as you go by the month.

You can cancel at all times but you won't get the 'discount' from paying yearly. You'll be charged the normal 9.99 instead of 7.99 (for example) for the months you used.

So if i sign up for a year, and cancel before the year is up, they will go back and charge me $9.99 per month, instead of the discounted $7.99 per month?

Yup. The only way you get the discount is if you stay the full year.

That's right. Don't expect any refund on a yearly account where you've been here more than 9 1/2 months. You can infer this from this section of Aletia's online Manual and F.A.Q.

hrm. well i thought it over some more, and decided to go with another hosting company.

I'm sorry to say that even though I have had no major problems with Aletia, one of the main reasons I took my new sites to a different host is becuase of all the negative feedback in these forums. I still have one site hosted here though. We'll see if things improve in the next few weeks or months.
