    goodbye to Aletia

Well, my prepaid year is almost up, and I'm moving on to another web host that has a somewhat cheaper plan that better fits my hosting needs. I just want to say that I still think Aletia can make a full recovery from all the nay-saying that's been going on. I do think more communication from the staff would be extremely helpful, but I must also admit that I suffered no severe technical difficulties while I was an Aletia member for this last year. Then again, I was only running a personal site that does not really require 99% uptime. Regardless, for those criticizing Aletia, remember you can always opt out and leave. (I made a quick 5 minute call to PaySystems today to verify that my recurring billing has been cancelled, and they were very courteous with that. Keep this in mind if you cannot seem to get a response from Aletia regarding your billing.) For those willing to stick it out...I respect you! I would do the same, but I really can't afford the cost right now as I'm about to head off to college. I'll stop by here every now and then to see how things are going.

For what it's worth, Lijoe and Veena have been extremely helpful in this cancellation process. I have gotten replies to my ticket within the hour each time I post a new message. And I have made at least one strange request (to remove my domain from the DNS servers while still leaving my Aletia account active) and they were able to comply immediately. Oh well...the reason I'm leaving is not the service (I never had major problems with it) but more the cost, on the budget of a college freshman.

Sigh. I'm sorry to see you on the list of those headed out, Nothlit. Good luck in your poor-university-student future and beyond.
