The DNS problem was the last straw that Aletia had that they could pull. The absolute last. They've been cutting this corner on money the whole time by having only one DNS server and two IP's on it. Even my old $20/yr host had two DNS servers. But then again I don't think they even new how to put two IP's on the same machine.... O_o But that's not important right now.

I'm moving to a new host. All the same stuff as Aletia for about the same price, plus double the bandwidth. This host has been up for a very, very long time and has had very little problems. One person was complaining on the forums that it was taking support up to a half-hour to respond to tickets. A half-hour.... My god..... They also have a PHONE NUMBER! W00t!

Anyway, I want to say bye to everyone here. Especially the cool people like: Clio, timechange, wwww, Still Shady, EHG, Dogma, and now I can't remember the other people who were on this list because IE MESSED UP AND MADE ME LOSE THIS WHOLE POST!! Sorry to those I forgot.

Bye everyone, I may check in every now and then, but other than that.....

Hook us up with info on your new host -- I don't think the mods will stop you.

I'm looking around this very second, too. It hurts -- I really liked Aletia, and even when things were looking bad, my stuff on Dolphin always seemed safe.

I'm currently debating my options, and financials, but I want one (or more) of the following to happen:

1. Aletia to come out with a full and frank apology, overhaul their services and drag their arse back into gear
2. Aletia to give me a complete refund of what i've paid and apologise
3. A miracle

I just took a good look at terra-byte and plan on looking into them further this weekend.

As far as Aletia OH-WELL - for months and months we have almost been begging them to get their act together and they simply ignore us.

I would imagine that the employee(s) assuming their is more then 1 are as exasperated as we are. They have some definite management issues in that whoever is responsible for the overall operations and policy of this company hasn't the vaguest idea on how to run a service organization.

For someone like clio to give up well that pretty much says it all!!

For any of you who have ANY files on aletia that you do not have on your local HD - I strongly recommend that you dl them while you can - as of yesterday anyway the ftp was still working (at least on Eagle) better safe then sorry!

Celeron for the valuable info I think you should be raised to full P4 status!!

FTP still works if you use your IP address.

I took a look at [REMOVED NAME OF BETTER HOST AT MODERATOR'S REQUEST*] as well. Any idea how long they've been hosting?

I need to do a seach for them at WebHostingTalk. I've heard the name before.

I know they've been up for a few years at least. I'm not sure exactly how long, but I'd say longer than Aletia.

terra-byte states that the inception of the company was 1997 and claim to be CANADA'S largest hosting company.

I just saw that they also have a forum(s) so I guess the best way to really check them out is to sign-on and see what the users are saying.

Getting on someone for talking about other hosts at time like this is pretty insane.

Considering the entire Aletia company is down. We're all just trying to run our sites.
