    Any Miranda lovers out there?

    As in Miranda camera lovers

How about just all-mechanical camera lovers?

I’m just wondering who else out here is into photography with real equipment, not with plastic toys

I used to be quite a shutterbug... took after my Dad.

He was into Minolta, and I followed suit.

Bought a Minolta 7000AF about 15 years ago, bought lenses and flashes and lots o' neat stuff.

A couple of MONTHS later, they came out with the 7000i and, believe it or not, obsoleted every piece of equipment that I bought. I vowed never to invest heavily again.

The Minolta camera was great for it's time (the AF is quite slow compared to current models), and served me quite well until I dropped it on a Church's marble floor. When it hit the floor and didn't bounce, I new I was in trouble. It still works, but takes manly force to activate the shutter release, which isn't conducive to getting good pictures in low light shooting.

And I hadn't until I bought a Kodak DC4800 for about $800 (Ok not heavy but substantial). Of course Kodak obsoleted thiscamera and allof it's stuff immediately, too. But it still takes great Mega-pixel shots, and I bought a few (proprietary) batteries and other stuff at the discontinuation sale.

    What's your story?

I shoot mostly Nikons, from my F first introduced in 1959 through F2, Nikkormat, N2020, and now my new pride and joy, FM3A. Even new lenses fit my F so I'm still taking him out for shoots

By far the worst offender was Cannon, with 4 lens mounts in 40 years. What I think about that is not fit for a family oriented forum

With the exception of my FM3a (which is still an all-mechanical baby) I don't like shooting cameras less than 25 years old. All the plastic and electronic "stuff" (pronounced "crap") got no soul.

Besides, there is the perverse pleasure of outshoting people with auto-everything mega zoom lenses with nothing but an old camera and a chunk of superb 40 years old Nikkor glass
