    XP Security Hole!

    Check this out

The scary thing about that link is that I could have just deleted a lot of data from your hard drive!

Anyway it is not that kinda link, it is just a link that tells you about the security hole, and where to download the update. So check it out.

Gibson is an eccentric (read: quack) and I'd take what he says with a pinch of salt (or two). I believe the sole purpose of the "revelation" is to force lots of people to patch XP with SP1. The latest patch by Microshaft breaks the functionality of several major software titles. I am not touching this one with a 10 ft pole.

So, if you choose to install SP1 for XP. you are also choosing to install security holes.

They also did a segment on the TV show, the ScreenSavers. Where they actually erased data from the hard drive of a test XP machine using just a malformed URL.

They said that there was another fix by simply deleting a system file. So maybe you should looking to doing that rather than the SP1 route.

Microsoft is really trying to screw everyone over now.

I am soo glad I stuck with 2000.

I did not see much in that article than a lot of hear say. They based thier conclusions on his resume, the fact that he does not post on some security forums, and a quote from someone I have never heard off.

They have a lot of stuff on the site though. I will look more closely at Gibsons announcements from now on, but he was correct about this one.

" 'Codito Ergo Sum' - Descartes (kinda)"

    should be: cogito ergo sum
i studied the sutpid language for 5 years. besides, i think the original quote was in french, no?

    Julie...

    "codito" vs. "cogito"...

    is the pun.

Code monkey ... codito perhaps "I code"...

    sigh...

They teach everything in Latin School, except what is needed.

Yep, it is meant to mean "I code," I am not sure if it is exactly right.

BTW I have gotten some heat about linking to my site on another board too. But I have a good reason.

I have updated the post on my forum several times, with new links and etc. If I did not provide links on all the forums I posted then I would have to go and edit every message.

This way I have found is much easier.
