    Domain Pointers and Search Engines

Can some-one please advise if a domain pointer (as outlined in the JPC features) has the same harmful effect on search engine rankings as a redirection using a META tag?

We're looking at getting a few domain names that are easier to remember and looking to point them straight to another url.

    Thanks,

    James

A pointer isn't a redirect at all. When yoou get a pointer, the server is set up to use the pointed domain name as if it was the main name of the account (i.e. its set up as a virtual host within apache). So if you set up www.domainb.com to point to www.domaina.com/sectionb, domainb.com will appear to the world as if it is just an ordinary old URL. There will be no way to tell that it is actually a pointer inside another account.
