    Question Domain pointing

This is a reseller question, and although I am a reseller for JAG I cannot access the forum. But since there haven't been any posts in the last 1000 days, perhaps this is a better place to pose the question anyway.

What is the purpose of the domain pointer.
I believe it is to point files requested from site A to point to an alternate site B

    Example:
    mynewsite.com (A) >>>>>Traffic>>>>>>>myexistingsite.com (B)

In the reseller section, the first field ask for main domain, which I think is the domain that I want all traffic to go to. (i.e myexistingsite.com)

The second field ask for the "pointed domain name", which is the name that I am going to purchase and would like to have traffic from the new site go to the main site. (mynewsite.com)

    Is this correct?

A pointer lets you host two separarte sites in the same webspace. Say you have an account for domaina.com and you also want to register domainb.com but you don't want to buy separate hosting for it. Instead, you can set up a sub domain such as b.domaina.com and then ask to have domainb.com pointed at that subdomain. To the end user it would look like two separate sites, but both are coming from the same account.

If you want to use two domains to access the same website (such as domain.com and domain.net), you can request the second domain be parked at the first. Like a pointer it will allow you to host two names on one account, but the parked domain will be the same as the original domain.
