    granting limited access to developer

Hi - I am new to this. I am using FrontPage to maintain a few sites on JaguarPC. Recently I met a developer who proposed to install a php+Mysql program on my site. I do not want to give him access to the whole site, so I created a special ftp account for him : he has now access to one folder.

Now he has to create a MySql data base and install his php program. What do I need to do ? does he need more access rights ?

    Thanks for helping

    Armand,

You will have to create a MySQL account for your friend to use. This can be done with the control panel (cpanel) in your account.

If your friend plans on populating the database with tables for you, and it cannot be done through the PHP scripts that he is installing, then he will need to connect to your account with SSH, using your identity.

Just coordinate it over the phone or e-mail with him, and do it yourself. It's not that big of a deal. The first rule of security is to NOT share your password with other people, no matter how much you may trust them.
