    Question PHP-Nuke or XMB ?

I'm going to be setting up a messageboard for Internet TV and radio fans. I see that JaguarPC offers PHP-Nuke and XMB. Since I am new to this area, I'd like some feedback about which to choose --- pros, cons, security, your experience, problems, etc.

    Bob (forthcoming iTVfan.com)

P.S. In the meantime I do some surfing to learn a bit more. I seem to remember that PHP-Nuke is based on XMB?

Manually install Invision Board ( http://www.invisionboard.com ). You will be happier because of the features and JPC will be happier because it's less server intensive.

PHP Nuke is a TOTALLY DIFFERENT program than XMB. First of all, Nuke is a CMS program, not a discussion board. XMB is a discussion board program. Nuke came out first, so there is NO WAY that Nuke is based off XMB (and they're different programs).

If you're looking for a free solution, I'd say go for invisionboard as celeron recommended or www.phpbb.com I never had experience with invision board but i hear it's good.

manually installing a program is always better and if you need help, i'm sure there a lots of people here who can do that for you

I see, then PHP-Nuke is similar in function to PHPWebsite or is it more? Is Post-Nuke a BBS addon then? I find that I prefer the look-and-feel of PHPWebsite over PHP-Nuke.

I'll look into the invisionboard software for a basic BBS.

Yes, Invision Board has more admin features than phpBB and is far easier on the server than phpBB. If you're looking for a real quality board, then it's definitely vBulletin, but you must pay for that.

EDIT: Oh, and CPanel XMB installations are usually very buggy.

Yes, of course I'm sure you'd find a claim like that on any forum's site.

My Choice - Invision Power Board

Works well so far. I also installed X-Avatar for the messageboard, added a few mods, made a few myself, and worked on a modded skin, etc.

So what do you think so far?
