Question Jaguar vs. I Power Web Transfer Speeds

I am a little surprised. I Power is in California and Jaguar in Houston with me in N. Texas. I have just published my web to http://66.227.87.126 and my page acquisition speed is slower across the board when compared to www.apartments2go.com ( I Power Web in Calf.) I Power is also a "Shared Host"

Now I realize that from time to time the net boggs down, but I was hopeful that my page acquisition speed would have improved due to the closer proximity. Since I am using FP2002 and I am using the FP Extensions is there anything else I can do to my Web Settings to improve page loading speeds? I have ATTBI Cable broadband and for example my http://66.227.87.126/plano_apartments.htm is about 10 seconds slower to load then www.apartments2go.com/plano_apartments.htm This is without saying unacceptable.

Hopefully this is only a temporary problem. If I can't get better page loading speeds I will have to keep looking for a new host.

Also I have deleted my History cashe and cookies so that the browser MSIE 6.0 would be forced to download the entire page.

    Thumbs up

Up date on speed stats. THANKS MASOOD! Looks like I needed to clean out all TEMPORARY INTERNET FILES to really measure performance. DAH! So I stand corrected. Scary thought is I may need to rethink how I present my graphic info to my web customers. Those pretty little swish movies take time to download. OK here is the "tracert" for the 2 webs:

I found www.apartments2go.com/plano_apartments.htm much, much slower than http://66.227.87.126/plano_apartments.htm. But for starters, remove the effect that makes those apartments fade into view. That takes some time and definitely slows the loading of the page.

Thanks. I am still new to this. In the process of making a website work I am still in the leasing business. I will try and see if the fade in of the shock wave movie is eating resources.

LoL! I'm on a dedicated T3 connection right now. They both look the same to me...

One thing I've learned over the years - running around these kinds of web boards and review sites - 99.9% of the time the problem lies on YOUR end, not the web host's.

    Here's what I'm seeing:

of course you will have a slower speed when using the domain name with the IP address it just goes right to the number nothing else

With the Domain name is much quiry the DNS servers to locat your site

To be fair you should use either the IP addresses or the Domain names

(I think you should use the IP addresses my self because then you will really be able to find the true speed)
