    Is it just me or did this forum just get spammed by some prick who calls him self celebguy something or other posting a link to an image!

    It's not you. He spammed the forum with about 150 ads. I've reported him to the mods, so I guess we'll have to wait for one of them to wake up and clean out all his spam.

    Twas indeed another forum spammerist attack.

    I reported it as well last night while it was in progress. Noticed it when the count was merely 5. It moved quite a few old threads to the top of the pile.

    Just out of curiousity, anyone know whether forums like these are usually susceptible to some sort of automated spamming script? Hard to believe anyone would actually take the time to post to 155 different threads manually. Though last night, I noticed the count creeping up slowly. So whoever did this must have been logged in for an awfully long time.

    It wouldn't be hard to create a script to spam a forum, since they have very predictable URL's. (For example, every vb forum will have a newreply.php file in it.) I'm sure scripts like that exist. As for why counds went up slowly, perhaps the spammer used a time delay so as to be less suspicious looking. He could have set it up to post one message a minute or whatever.

    Yes, vB is susceptible to this. JaguarPC may want to look into upgrading to vBulletin 2.3.0 RC3, which places image verification in the registration process, which the script cannot handle. Even though it's still in RC, you may want to get that upgrade up here ASAP.
