    Jailshell Name

Just for PR purposes, don't you think JAG should rename their Jailshell prompt name. It certainly conjures up a relatively negative image (even if I might call it junkshell for all the bugs).

How about secureshell or safeshell or some variation of a more positive purpose. Are all you innocent customers now supposed to be in JAIL? Sure gives ME the warm fuzzies.

Ah well, at least the cell is not too tight (reports unlimited diskspace for now).

Thats a software issue, not under our ability to control. Jailshell is a integrated cpanel feature.

    Are you sure?

I've been able to change the PS1 prompt for every other shell I've ever used, usually through a .profile, .bashrc, .bash_profile, etc.

It seems a bit sloppy not to include that functionality into any shell. Can't you point us to the documentation for your "jailshell" so we can "assist" your support folks.

There is no documentation, as noted before its part of some new cpanel feature. I personally dont think its a bad name, it does create a jail . Besides, whats in a name?

Here's a comprehensive article, I ran across, on jail scripts. Pretty interesting reading IMHO...

EDIT: Oops! My bad. After reading the article again, it shows how you how to bust out of jail. Probably not a good thing to post, huh?

If it works like any of the other "jailshell" programs I've seen, the problem is that it's doing "bash" instead of "bash --login". The difference is that one changes to a home directory, sources .bash_profile/.profile/etc., one doesn't.

I noted this to support awhile back. Sounds like their hands are tied too.

    Closed source software annoys me

    Reference thread:

    http://forums.jaguarpc.com/showthrea...&threadid=9160

If you are using Tera Term SSH, you can make a simple startup macro that will execute your .bash_profile:

    wait 'jailshell'
    sendln '. ~/.bash_profile'
    end
