Our dern DSL connection is down. Luckily or not, depending on how you look at it, our ISP banned us a month or so ago for spamming. Actually, spammers were bouncing mails off port 80 on one of our machines. So, we setup a proxy server that mimicked our Cisco router. We used a trial AOL dialup account for the connection, and boom, we were back online in less than an hour.
After a few days, the spammer thing was cleared up, we went back online with our formerly red-flagged DSL account and cancelled AOL. The proxy server was relegated to the bone pile until tonight.
Our ISP offers a free dialup account as part of their DSL package. That's the biggest reason we went with them. WoW! This is so cool! DSL is down, so we put the proxy server back up, and boom, we're back online in less than an hour, again, using our regular account instead of AOL.
Ain't life grand?![]()
