    Decreasing JPG file size

I came across a program today at the Wilders Security Forums
I thought some of you might find it useful. I've tried it and it
seems to work great. You can work with 1 file or a folder.

    By the way it's fee!

    About JPG Cleaner

JPG Cleaner is simple but powerful utility for cleaning JPG files
from anything that is not picture data. Commonly used programs such
as Adobe Photoshop are writing additional information into JPG file
that isn't needed for correctly displaying the picture.

All this data is useful only when opening the file in program that created
it. Other programs such as Internet Browsers are just skipping this data,
so the data is downloaded ant then thrown away! Just use this program when
publishing JPG files on the Internet and your JPG files become smaller
(if they contain non-picture data) with NO QUALITY LOSS.

I've found this to be great even after using Photoshop's "Save for Web" function

I've tried that before. Basically it compresses files and it only works
with 1 file at a time. I have hundreds of files that I would like to
decrease the size on as much as possible.

I think I have my files as compressed as they can be. I tried this on
some old pictures that I no longer use. It reduced some file sizes by
    10 kb.

The program may not be worth anything to some of you. It's something
I came across and thought it might be helpful to some. It's free and
does not require an installation of software.

Net Mechanic is good, but in the end you are going to pay. I think all
they do is compress images. I have used the link you listed a couple of
times in the past. I have several graphics programs that will compress
images. With JPG Cleaner I have been able to reduce the file size of
the files I used it on.

Use JPG Cleaner on a jpg file that you have optimized with Net Mechanic and
    see what happens.

I would be interested in seeing your results.

I have nothing to gain from sharing this program. It is free. I thought a
few people might be interested. I was also hoping for some feed back from
    whoever tried it.

I tried the Jpg Cleaner software on some of my already optimized picture files. It said they were already clean (as I expected), so it didn't compress/strip any for me. Still nice to see the confirmation though.

    Thanks Lookout!

What I'm finding is that graphics I have worked with using
Paint Shop Pro are optimized and the cleaner doesn't help those
graphics. However, a majority of the graphics on my web site were
done with other programs, and in some instance the cleaner has
reduced file size up 8 KB.
