I'm sorry you find it unbelievable. Our techs ARE doing what they can to get the site up and running. I'm not sure what else you want us to say. We certainly apologize for the downtime and the inconvenience and frustration it's likely causing.. but again, they are doing what they can to get things backup as quickly as they can.

    Hi,

A handful of my sites are back up and running fine but several are still getting the 404 Not Found error. I can access the cpanels to these sites but I get lots of errors while I'm there. It also shows that there is nothing there. I am also unable to connect via FTP. This thread says that the restoration is complete and that all sites are loading fine. I did put in a ticket and let them know that I still have many domains still not working. I was just wondering if anyone else experiencing this same thing. Thanks in advance.

So your have Cracked the hardware transfer limits of Hard Drives, and protocalls, I know some guys at Western Digtial that would love to get a hold of you then.

The fact of the matter is, data can only be moved soo fast, you can "disagree" all you want, I "disagree" that the world is round, does that make you think it is flat?

Jason brings up a very good point. and another reason I got out of the reseller business, Shared Resold Servers are the most unrelaible, because most of the "resellers" done have a f'in clue how to run a web hosting business, (as this thread proves nicely) and they Oversell their own spaces, JAG oversells the space, and some script kiddy gets in and brings everything down......

I dont know how must revenue they get from resellers, but I would not miss it if they stopped offering the service unless it is a VPS...

Did I say that JPB lost my files? No, I don't think I said that. I was asking a question to the people who are also going through this problem.

For those who would like to know I did hear back from JPC and they replied back very promptly.

    Hi,
we have noticed that during the restore few of the directories under /home were not completely restored and that is why you are facing this problem. We are now restoring the remaining ones and as soon as they are restored, all the sites will start loading fine.

    ancient,

Listen man, you can take that comment and shove it up your $#@!.
Even hosts who do religious backups, on a daily basis,
have lost database data, and email, since the time of the last backup.

I speak for everyone here when I say: Keep your damn negativity to yourself.
You've been at it for days now, and we're sick of hearing you, really.
Obviously you were formerly a host (you've told us all, several times)
and you faced many problems yourself (you told us all that too, several times)
and now you're out of the business (told us that) and you're loving all this.

It's obvious to everyone here that you're having a field day,
    rubbing salt in everyone's wounds
and seeing everyone down on their luck.

Another thing, do NOT reply to this post with your preaching about SLA
agreements, failover systems and everything else we've all heard you saying for days.
Listen man, at the end of the day, a LOT of hurt people were hurt here.
I might imagine that thousands (or tens of thousands?) of websites were affected.

There are other forums you can go to and pester.
Go there. Please, go now. And leave the people here alone.

I am not "out of business" hosting was never a business for me, I have always been a Freelancer, I offered hosting services as a addon on because I thought it would be a quick way to make a few extra dollars off my development contracts, it turned in to a support nightmare that I did not feel like dealing with.

I work FT as a in house developer/IT man for a medium sized business running their data systems (which I am in the process of moving most of their websites here to JPC) plus I take a freelance contracts. I just dont do hosting anymore.

Glad you brought that up, because I forgot to mention your whining.

ancient's main bitching point seems to be that everyone should have a failover system in place.
Hey man we've all heard you wine and wine about that, and it's a load of crap. Here's why:

    (1) Failover systems are extremely expensive ($thousands)
    (2) ancient didn't use a failover system.

For those that don't know, a failover system keeps an exact mirror copy of every one of
your customer's websites, on a separate server, at a separate datacenter (in case your entire datacenter goes down)
located in a different part of the country. (in case the datacenter's backbone goes down,
or other Internet access problems in that local geographic region)
When your server or datacenter goes down, within 1 minute (or up to 10 minutes) the servers located at the mirror datacenter kick in.

Most failover systems are rather expensive, but there are some mid-range priced
systems that are do-able. Even the lowest priced ones are way more expensive that your primary account with JPC.

    (3) ancient says everyone should have backups.

If a server goes down, and loses data, then all data since the last backup cannot be recovered.
For example: A host backs up all customers every midnite. The next day a disaster occurs at 4pm.
What cannot be recovered is 16 hours of database, email and other data.

If this was a medical forum, and someone had died,
ancient would be saying that everyone should walk around with
a portable defibrilator, and a private nurse.

Listen man, you really have to let go of this.
You're acting like this is a pissing match and you won't quit until you win.
You are wrong, and you don't need to counter what everyone says.
Just leave everyone here alone, they all got hurt by this.

You are correct that my personal websites are not using any failover, why?? Because if they go down it does not effect me in the least bit, they are a hobby for me, nothing more. Up, down, makes no never mind to me.

Like anything "failover" is a generic term, you have outlines the most extreme example.

systems that are do-able. Even the lowest priced ones are way more expensive that your primary account with JPC.
as I have stated many times

some one can die from a forum????? WOW you better alert VB or invision they should know that have that kind of power.

But to get to your point, Every things in life is a Risk vs Reward analysis, I know people that have extreme heart problems they have a Defib in thier home, Should everyone have one, probally not, but I bet you have a smoke detector. You analyzed that the risk of fire justified the cost of that detector.

Listen man, you really have to let go of this.
You're acting like this is a pissing match and you won't quit until you win.

Listen man, you really have to let go of this, You acting like you can prove me wrong when infact it is you that is wrong, you cant prove me wrong, while the people here were hurt, they need to take away from this the knowelge to protect themselves from these types of things in the future. Patting them on the back and blaming JPC will not allow them to learn the proper lesson from this ordeal, and will set them up to be "victims" again in the future, The ones that are leaving JPC thinking that will solve their problems will once again find themselves on another forum of another hosting company saying the same things, the smart ones that listen to what I and other have posted here will be able to protect themselves at some level and possibly avoid major complications to their business.

Why do you want people to be "hurt" over and over....

I have found that the client sites that are not working can be fixed by terminating the account in WHM and then re creating them, and restoring the data yourself, I have done this for a few clients as patience has run out with them now. The only problem is you have to recreate email accounts etc for them so it is time consuming

Further to my previous posting, email is not routing correctly for any of the accounts that have been restored
