Just read the complete thread. I just shake my head - total classlessness. These forums are for helping. Not kicking people when they are down. Say what you will - that is what was done here by the master of the typo.

He was totally right in what he said but just as much wrong in how he said it.

The record for one of my sites being down is seven days, but it wasn't here at JPC. The record at JPC is two or three days, I believe, but that was years ago. These kinds of issues tend to be few and far between. If you read the forums it seems that things like this happen a lot, but then also consider that JPC has 100+ servers that they control and the number of servers is directly proportional to the likelihood that one will fail at a given point in time.

What you never hear about is how many drives that fail are hot-swapped with replacements before the entire RAID array gets corrupted, resulting in no noticeable downtime and no data restore.

Yeah, it sucks when your site is down, but if that was a regular occurance here at JPC, I'd have left years ago. I considered leaving after that downtime episode I noted above, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt and stayed here and I'm glad that I did. I've had short periods of downtime since, but nothing to get upset over. I do keep the thought that one of my servers could be next in the back of my head, though and I have a contingency plan in place to handle it--not an automatic failover plan by any means, but I could get my important stuff up and running again within a couple of hours if necessary.

Right I think its time to close this topic now - Its just pointless staying open. If you have any problems then please open a ticket.

If you want this re-opened then please PM a moderator.

    Thanks
