Jpc Icon About us & Features

JaguarPC only uses top quality hardware from Supermicro to ensure the best performance for our VPS's.

    CPUs
We use Dual AMD Opteron and Dual Intel Xeon servers, with dual cores thats 4 functioning processors per node.

    RAM
Our servers have a minimum of 8GB ECC registered RAM.

    Harddrive
We use SCSI and SATA drives, which are all have hot-swap functionality and are placed in a RAID 10 array.

    RAID
We only use 3ware and Areca RAID cards, which have a very high performance and enable us to achieve a very high amount of reads/writes. For more information about RAID please refer to the raid section of this post.

    Hot-swap
All drives, fans and power supplies are hot-swappable. This means that we can replace a failed drive without shutting the server down. Because we use RAID 10's mirroring functionality we can take a failed drive out of the server, and since another drive still contains all the data, there will be no outage or data loss. Then we can simply place a new drive in the same slot, and this new drive will take over the functionality of the failed drive (again - with no downtime or data loss).

    Remote Console
Using consoles we are able to monitor all the hardware. This provides us status reports of disk activity, power usage, fan speeds, and heat in the CPU's and in the rest of the server. Whenever there is a failure or anything out of the ordinary, we are notified immediately so that one of our technicians can look at the issue immediately.

    RAID arrays

RAID 10 is a combination of RAID 1 + Raid 0. A RAID 10 array is always created with four disks.

    Raid 1
Raid 1 is mirroring. This array will mirror two sets of two drives into eachother. The result is that there is a very high fault-tolerance, and when one of these two drives has a serious failure, the other drive will still contain all the data. Since the array can still function properly with only drive, the drive failure will not cause any downtime.

    Raid 0
Raid 0 is striping. This means that the 'remaining' drives are basically being added up to eachother, to create one large disk. The result is not only that all the disks together are now being seen by the system as one large drive, but it also makes the system's read and write speed much faster. RAID 10 is the fastest RAID solution available (much faster than RAID 5).

We use hardware based 3ware RAID controllers. This controller makes sure that no matter how much disk speed is being used by other users, there will always be plenty of capacity for your VPS.

    Pro-Active Monitoring

On all hardware nodes every VPS is monitored for performance and uptime by our monitoring system.

If your Server or VPS fails we will immediately attempt to recover the service for you, and we will notify you about the failure. In most cases we do not need access to your VPS to recover it. However we will need root access to your server.

    Managed

JaguarPC offers a range of management addons. There is no obligation to use this benefit though - if you prefer you can do all the management yourself.

    Management includes the following:

    • Assistance with configuration of services.
    • Security improvement based on our observations.
    • Service tweaking for optimized performance of your services.
    • Hack recovery and dissection - if your VPS is hacked we will help you figure out why by going through logs and directories so we can secure it for future use.
    • VPS troubleshooting - if your VPS is not running well we will make suggestions for improvement.
    • Control Panel support - we fully support all the control panels that we offer.
    • OS patch and security updates - we will take care of this on the hardware nodes, so we can do this for a full server all at once. This also includes kernel upgrades.

    Full root access

VPS's and Dedicated servers have full root access, without any restrictions. You can also install anything you want, provided that it is not against our policies.

All VPS's are completely isolated from eachother and can not affect eachother in any way.

    Guaranteed/Burstable RAM

Our VPS plans have varying amounts of burstable and guaranteed RAM.

    What is guaranteed RAM?
Guaranteed RAM is not a limit, but a minimum availability of RAM for your VPS. No matter how much RAM other VPS's use, this amount is available to you at all times. A great advantage of using VPS technology is that your VPS is able to burst over its guaranteed amount of RAM.

    What is burstable RAM?
This is the RAM limit that your VPS can burst up to. Every VPS has a guaranteed amount of RAM, and when there is still RAM left available on the server you can use that as well, which makes a VPS very efficient.

Currently the only way to get more RAM than what's included in your plan is to upgrade to a larger plan. If you already have the largest plan that we have available, we can work out an agreement for additional RAM. If you need this, please contact sales@jaguarpc.com.

Note: regardless of how much RAM other VPS's use: your account will always be able to use 100% of its guaranteed RAM.

    Post About Us

JaguarPC was founded with the idea of providing something nobody else has ever done before. Our aim is to be the absolute best provider in the world, and we won't settle for anything less. DEHE is a subsidiary of JaguarPC, which has been in business since July 2000. JaguarPC and DEHE are the same company, just a different brand.

We have a very thorough experience in the hosting industry. Back in 1998 we started from scratch and we have now grown to be one of the leaders in the business. This makes us a financially secure company to deal with for your trusted needs.

Our staff members are among the most knowledgeable and most experienced people in the hosting industry. Every helpdesk staff member has years of experience. This means that no matter what technical problem you may have, our staff has most likely dealt with the issue before, meaning they can resolve your problem very fast. Needless to say: our support department is available 24/7 and we have support staff available directly in our datacenter at all times.

We always have a large staff on-site to ensure that we can assist you whenever needed. Unlike many of our competitors we don’t wait until our customers start to complain about slow support, we hire additional staff months before that happens. To normal support requests we usually respond in less than 15 minutes. To urgent support matters we always respond almost instantly.

As you have already seen our website is not a regular website, it’s based on a community forum. We have done this due to some very important considerations.
    • We want to show you who we are and how we work. We want to prove to our potential customers that we are as good as we say we are. With a regular website you wouldn’t be able to see who’s behind the screens. With us you can see what you can expect from our services before you order anything.
    • Using the forum our customers and visitors can find information very easily. Furthermore everyone can also share information very easily this way.
    • We realize that not all of our customers have the specific knowledge to manage a Linux or Windows environment. Reading through our forums is by far the easiest way to become familiar with the technologies, especially by reading the experiences of others. On top of that, we offer management with every VPS.
    • For our staff it’s very nice to work with the forums and to interact with customers through the forums. This keeps them all very motivated, which has a great positive impact on the quality of our support.
If you have any further questions about who we are and how we work, please feel free to ask us any time. You may also contact us directly if you prefer or ask us in these forums.

    Network & Uptime guarantee

Our network architecture is a complete Cisco Network. We utilize fully redundant Cisco 6509 routers with the latest SupII/MFSCII cards with 30 mm pps throughput (redundant routers and redundant cards within the router) at the core and state of the art 3550 L3 switch / routers as aggregation routers. To further maximize redundancy we utilize distributed 2924 XL EN switches.

The Avaya ANS BGP management system (RouteScience) optimizes the routes on the 6 gigabit network in real time 7000 times per minute based on traceroute performance to ensure that your VPS has the highest performance routing. Most other providers only provide simple BGP routing.

We currently have these backbone providers and a connection to the Atlanta Internet Exchange for peering; Telia, PCC-BTN, Level 3, Savvis , Global Crossing

JaguarPC has a state-of-the-art network and offers a 99.999% uptime guarantee.

You can find the exact definition of this in our policies:
Service Level Agreement (SLA) : http://www.jaguarpc.com/about/policy-sla.php
    Terms of Service (TOS): http://www.jaguarpc.com/about/policy-tos.php

    Hardware

To ensure that every customer receives a high level of service we only use top quality hardware. If we wouldn’t do so, servers could easily get overloaded and that’s ofcourse the last thing we want to happen.

Before we put a new server online we first test the equipment thoroughly for any possible problems. If any problems occur, we simply don’t use that equipment at all and use different hardware. Once this is completed we install our backend systems and test this thoroughly as well. Only when our senior administrators approve the hardware node it’s used in our production environments.

    CPU
For all our VPS servers we use Dual Opteron or Dual Xeon chips. These chips have proven to be very reliable and they provide a very large amount of processing power. Another important factor is the bus speed (FSB). We have done tests with CPUs with less bus speed and found out that that caused a serious performance degradation.

    Memory (RAM)
Every server has a minimum of 8GB of ECC registered RAM. That’s a lot more than what’s necessary, but this way we ensure that you can burst over your guaranteed RAM. A lack of RAM would cause a significant performance degradation and that’s something many of our competitors underestimate.

    Harddrives
We use SCSI and SATA drives, which all have hot-swap functionality and are placed in a RAID 10 array.RAID 10 is a combination of RAID 1 + Raid 0.

    Power supplies
The power supplies in each server are triple redundant, meaning that there are three physical power supplies. This ensures that even if two power supplies fail, the server will still be up and running without any problem.

    Networking
Every server has a dedicated 100mbps connection to our network. Read more about our network here:

    Cooling
Our servers have eleven (11) fans to ensure that all the hardware stays as cool as possible at all times. At the back end of the server our powerful airconditioning units make sure that the hot air is blown away from the server immediately. All fans are redundant and hot-swappable, so we can replace them without shutting the server down. Furthermore we use 4u cases to ensure optimized air circulation within the server.
