    Account still not setup

I've never had this much trouble getting a hosting account setup. Multiple phone calls to support who can do nothing to assist, multiple emails to sales staff with no clue about how to verify identity and nobody can give me contact info for an owner or manager with a little common sense to look at the issue.

Looks like I might be wasting my time with Jaguar since my IP cannot possibly match my credit card info. Things such as the Whois info on the domain, and the email address as stated previously are not used?

Do they really think that people never logon from other locations, or god forbid travel? Blindly following the IP address is just silly. I guess before trying to give my business to Jaguar I should have setup some sort of server/vpn so I could proxy/spoof my IP?

Seems quite crazy just to get a hosting account setup. Heck, I've setup half of dozen hosting accounts, merchant accounts, registered LLC's, and have ran my online ventures from the "wrong" IP's for years.

How do you get a hold of someone who can apply a little common sense? Blindly following the IP address is just plain silly. IP's are easy to change. Why not use common sense to verify identity? Things like the whois info on the domain, the email address, or the common forms of id such as DL or passport? It's amazing that sales staff will blindly trust an easily spoofed IP, but not check for a DL or passport.

I've heard some good things about Jaguar and wanted to give them a try. To be honest, the tech's I spoke to were absolutely wonderful but they have no power to assist in sales/billing issues and the sales staff is incapable of applying common sense to verify identity. So it looks like my only option is to take my business elsewhere.

    Hello WebWorker,

I am sorry to hear about the issues you are experiencing with your order and would be glad to take a look at it for you. Please provide me with your order ID so I can get this resolved for you immediately and see what we can do to avoid issues like this in the future.

Check with me before charging my credit card. I'm having second thoughts about using Jaguar for my vps.

I am seeing some reports of downtime/slow vps servers at Jaguar and maybe the incompetent sales/billing staff was doing me a favor. It's a shame to have to make so many phone calls and send so many emails just to get an account setup, but it would be even worse if it finally got setup and the server was down daily/weekly.

You might want to explain to the sales/billling staff how easy it is to spoof ip addresses and that there are far more reliable forms of identity such as the whois/ownership of domain, drivers license, passport, etc....

Thank you for the update. It appears that there was an issue with our replies not reaching you initially.

We verify many different things when we receive an order and if any of them does not pass we flag it for further review. When you contacted us we replied to you with this information several times and information on how to resolve it, but unfortunately those were not received. I apologize for the inconvenience and would welcome the opportunity to show you why we are the best host in the business and why all those great reviews were written.

Please feel free to PM me or email me at david@jaguarpc.com if there are any further issues or questions and I will be happy to personally assist you,

Sales has an email address that is having no problems receiving emails. If they had replied in any way similar to what you stated, then my view would have been different.

    Instead they send me this:

Unfortunately, we cannot proceed any further with your order as you ordered from Taiwan using a US billing address. Your details on the domain name also do not match these.

Which is a 100% lie. They did not check the "details on the domain name", had they made a simple 30 second check of the Whois information they would see that the details on the domain name absolutely match. I verified this myself, the domain is not using privatized whois. A hosting company should have people that can figure out how to make a simple whois check. Furthermore, there are much much safer forms of ID verification like I have already pointed out such as drivers license or passport scans.

To this moment, sales has still failed to return my last message.

I have re-sent my last last email to the anti-sales staff at Jaguar. I will send them one more and cc your email address on this.

This whole thing is getting old and is probably a indicative of the level of quality and service one can expect from a jaguar vps.

There's an active thread regarding slow servers and excessive downtimes with Jaguar vps' on a popular hosting forum. If doesn't appear like Jaguar is the best host in the business.

    Hello,
Sorry for not getting back to you on the ticket earlier, we thought David replied to you here after you sent that ticket response. I will reply to the ticket now and explain everything.

When James initially said "Your details on the domain name also do not match these." I believe he was referring to the domain name details not matching the IP address details. He was not referring to the domain name details not matching the information you provided on the order.

We do request potential clients to fill in a form and provide scans of ID such as government issued photo ID if necessary, but it's not necessary with your order. David has given us permission to go ahead with your order if you're willing to give us a chance to be your host.

I will reply to the ticket now.
    Kind regards.

Here's an entertaining piece from the jaguar knowledgebase:

kbase home : Pre-Sales : Is it a problem if I'm not in the US?
Is it a problem if I'm not in the US?

Not at all! In fact, we already have customers in countries all over the world. If you don't have a credit card, we also accept paypal and checks or money orders.

I guess this doesn't apply if you ARE an American.

    Hi again,
It seems most of the problems have arisen from the misunderstanding of James' comments, not to mention the fact that you weren't receiving our replies until phone staff added an alternative email to your ticket. This would of been resolved much sooner if you received our initial replies, we are sorry it has dragged on for this long.

Apart from Iran (because of sanctions), we welcome clients from any part of the world.
    Kind regards.
