I am in the process of investigating VPS host to move many sites that we host for clients that we develop for. I have been burned by a few hosts, including some that had decent reputations on WHT. When I say burned I do not necessarily mean down servers, etc. I have worked in IT for 20 years and know things go down. However I do expect good communication.
Now with saying that I heard good things about JaguarPC and the fact that you actually put a phone number on the site makes me feel a little better. I have seen the "bad" reviews here and there, but overwhelmingly it seems to be positive.
I did a quick chat with the Sale rep here and found that for some reason you guys have Dallas listed, but not available for VPS. Is there a timetable for that? Now I know that I can get a good ping to the Atlanta DC, but there are reasons I am looking for a Dallas area location for my VPS I am trying to move.
Also you guys list that you never overload a host. What is your definition of not overloading? I have architected virtualized solutions since VMware came on the scene. That "never overload" can mean a lot of things since CPU, Memory use, disk I/O can all spike at different levels. Not being overloaded during peak is a lot different that average.
I have seen a few posts on here and on WHT about bringing on new staff and thus causing some headaches for customers since they obviously have to get up to speed. This is a bit of a concern since it tells me that you were understaffed and now there are a bunch of new hires that have to learn your systems and processes. No matter how you spin it that takes times and effects service. How do you answer that for someone like me who, as mentioned, has been burned a bit by support at other providers?
I know I am not easy on the questions as they are not the simple technical questions. However they need to be answered before I would feel comfortable.
Thanks
