    File Attachment problem in Forums

This came up in another thread. Has the ability to attach image files been disabled in the forums recently? Can't seem to attach gifs or jpgs to posts anymore.

If it worked, this post should include a 9K image.

Don't see it, Celeron. Think it was part of a security crackdown? Secret messages in image files? Or just the potential for offensive imagery appearing overnight in the forums? As if that would be something we don't all get already via spam.

The img tag doesn't seem to work either, AFAICT.

I pmed Jag on this earlier, so hopefully someone at Jaguar will get back on this when they get the chance. Not exactly a big emergency or anything.

Hmmm, good eye. I'll bet that somehow got reset in an update or something. The same section indicates that we ARE allowed to post attachments, but I'll bet the off states of HTML and IMG code interfere with that.

There's also the setting in the user profile:
Show image attachments and [img] code in Posts?
Selecting no will show a hyperlink instead. yes no
My user setting is set to yes, but I would expect the setting of the forum rules overrides that. You're not seeing images in the posts above, are you?

I have no trouble seeing image attachments in earlier posts here, and have successfully posted them here in the past.

    Aha!

I'll bet this thing is specific to each forum section, which would explain why I've seen it work previously. I noticed that IMG under the forum rules that Sara mentioned appears off in all forum sections, except the Open Discussion and the (user restricted) News and Update forums.

I'll be back after a try with a new thread under the Open Discussions forum.

I'm back with mixed results. Here's the link to the new thread for those interested.
