how do i go about obtaining a self-signed cert for my client for development use?

Just open a support ticket and ask a tech to create a cert for your client , give them the domain name. the tech will respond with a series of questions/criteria that has to be filled in.

Then we just create the cert and they will give you the csr. You dont need to do anything with it if you dont plan to have it signed by a company.
