    cgi bin error

a weblog (movable type) was installed a week or two ago. i had no problems logging in but now i can't even connect to the page. it says

    Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

as i haven't changed anything, i am wondering where the problem originated...

    Hello metalmuzak,

First thing to do to troubleshoot is to check your cgi error log. Assuming that you have not hardcoded a new error log file into your scripts, try the control panel first. There is a link to view the error log and this should record most script errors.

Once you have reviewed that and you still do not know what to do, then come back with a more specific question including the reported error. The community may be able to point you in the right direction or you may have to do a little cgi "Google" search.

Off the top of my head, there is a chance that recent IP changes may have affected your script and it may require a reinstall. Just a guess at this point. You would have to read the code to really diagnose the problem.

    Good luck,

    metalmuzak,
    First things to check are:
    - permissions of scripts
    - .htaccess file - if you have one, try temporarily renaming it to _htaccess

If neither helps, take a look at Apache error log and tell us what's there.
