Date / Time issue with Jailshell *ANYONE*

    ******************
Does anyones jailshell report CST, and if so, what server are you on.???
    ******************

When I ssh into Helium I get:

    jailshell-2.05$ hostname
    helium.nocdirect.com
    jailshell-2.05$ date
    Thu Nov 20 06:46:16 UTC 2003

But Tech support checks it they get:

    root@helium [~]# hostname
    helium.nocdirect.com

    root@helium [~]# date
    Thu Nov 20 00:35:30 CST 2003

Why the difference? Anyone, any thoughts?

Mine is reporting UTC on silicon, too. Its probably a "feature" of JailShell to report everything in UTC. This actually kind of makes sense since people are hosted from all over the world and UTC is the "universal time." Support (logged in as root) is probably using bash instead of JailShell and therefore is seeing the server's set time.

The UTC thing makes sence to me, but unfortunately everything runs in bash EXCEPT for your SSH session, so you will get the server's set time from your CGI scripts and cron jobs instead of UTC. So JailShell's reporting, while probably well intentioned, kind of defeats the purpose...

    Jason, That makes sense.

I opened a TT with Tech Support back in April of 2003 and the reported that it was a "Bug" in Jailshell/Cpanel. They were researching the issue at that time.

When I opend a TT today regarding this "Bug", this is still an issue with jailshell/Cpanel and no fix has been found yet.

It should actually be GMT .. UTC is Anti-Anglo invention. They apparently have a problem that Greenwich is the home of time.
